Q1. Write a short note on any 3 popular assessment
center method/exercise?
Ans.-In-tray exercise-
•In the In-tray exercise, the candidate is provided a
scenario where he is a new role holder of a fictitious
company
•Example- simulates the typical pile of papers that might
confront a job holder on a particular day. It ensures
targeted upon particular competencies and it is made
clear to participants that it is not a test of delegation. It is
important that the participant responds the way in which
he/she would in a real- life situation.
•Used for evaluating competencies like planning and
organizing, written
Communication, problem solving, execution skill, result
orientation, decision making, risk-taking, delegation of
responsibilities, and soon.
2. Competency based interview-
•The competency-based interview is similar to critical
incident interview
• Candidates areas ked to describe situations or incidents
when they felt effective on the job and those when they
felt ineffective
The competency based interview technique in
assessment centre provides information on the
managerial behavior aspects on the job that normally
would not be directly observable
3. Casestudy-
• Case study is a descriptive record of area life or of
simulated situation in the form of an incident or a case.
•In a case study, the candidate is expected to visualize
himself as the person in the case experiencing the
situation and then find a solution of which he has to
accept the ownership.
•The case study provides the candidate a nine sight and
experience in evaluation of a situation correctly and a
lows them to develop skills in working with data,
relating facts to action, deciding what to do and com m it
ting them to a course of action.
