Regarding to the flange issue, The Contractor has received HDPE backing flanges (dn315) from
Company.

However, these flanges are supposed to be Epoxy coated galvanized as per "Appendix 3" of Site
specification "0000-50-SPE-0001". During installation work, backing flange bolts were tightened by
rated torque value with mentioned in Table3 on Attachment-2 of Site specification SP-50-004. But bolt
torqueing is failed and flanges are deformed and cracked.

Therefore, the Contractor is kindly requesting to clarify Company's further direction.

Case Specific: The requested RFI applies only to this request and cannot be applied again.

Corporate: It is recommended that the RFI be incorporated into IM CWI procedures.

Notes:

1. Torque value reflects the use of a lubricant of heavy graphite and oil mixture.
2. Establish an initial sealing surface pressure by tightening to an initial torque value of 6 N-m;
then increase tightening torque in increments of about 20 N-m or less according to the bolt
tightening pattern in Attachment 1 until the maximum value is reached.
3. Polyethylene and gasket will undergo some compression set that may loosen the bolt. About
an hour after the first tightening to the final torque value, retighten each flange bolt nut to the
final torque valve. After 12 hours a second retightening shall be performed as before, retighten
in pattern sequence and in increment of 20 N-m or less.
