For my classroom management portfolio, I hope to present ideas that I will use in my future

classroom. I will be focusing my ideas on first days, classroom environment, classroom

procedure, discipline system, student motivation, and classroom engagement. Having this plan

will help me when I get to my future classroom. I think it is really important to plan what you are

going to do and this portfolio will give me a chance to explain my ideas and help me realize what

is a good fit and what is not. I can always add and remove stuff according to my grade level and

my students, but this is a great way for me to get started and have different ideas included. This

portfolio will help me stay organized and help me feel prepared when I get into the classroom.

First Day Get to Know You Sheet
Students will be given this friend bingo. I will be doing this worksheet with the
students so they can know more about me and so I can know more about them.
This activity will let students move around the classroom and get comfortable with
classroom environment. This worksheet will help students meet new friends and to
get to know the class and to get to know the teacher.
Classroom Mailbox
I want to keep a classroom mailbox so my students can give me feedback or if they
want to tell me something they can. Having a classroom mailbox can help me
understand what the students are feeling and get to know my students better. I want
to build a relationship with my students and I believe having a mailbox in the
classroom can help me build relationships.
Library Corner
I want to have a library corner so my students can read books any time they want.
Having a corner with books will also help students be introduced to different types
of books and they can have easy access to the books. This will help students be
interested in reading. I also want to make sure my library corner has some bean
bags and pillows to make that corner more inviting.
List of Procedures
1. Arriving to class and placing your belonging in the right place.

2. Turning in your homework at the right time and right place.

3. Lining up when leaving the class.

4. How to go to the carpet area.

5. Following attention getters.

6. Restroom procedures when you we together as a class.

7. How to check out a book from the classroom library.

8. How to borrow supplies and how to put them back.

9. Restroom procedures when going individually.

10. Steps of borrowing a pencil.

11. Different voice levels when doing different activities.

12. What to do when you finish your work.

13. How to ask questions and how to answer a question.

14. How to get into your different groups.

15. Fire drills.

Classroom Jobs
Having classroom jobs can help teach students responsibility and help them feel
included in the classroom. Making a job chart like should not take up too much
time and can be switched out every grading period so different students can
experience another job. Having classroom jobs lets the students be involved in the
classroom and helps them learn how to work together.
Pencil Borrowing System
Lots of time students will have a hard time finding a pencil and that can be
distracting when you are teaching a lesson. To make this easier I will have a check
out system for a pencil on a white board and then they can erase their name when
they return the pencil. This will help me keep track of my pencils and will help
teach responsibility to the students to return the materials.
Bathroom Pass
When students need to use the restroom they will ask the teacher and if she says
yes than they will pick up the germ-x bottle and put in on top of their desk. This
will help show the teacher and other students that someone is in the bathroom.
When the student comes back they will squirt germ-x on their hands and then they
will put the germ-x bottle in a designated area.
Classroom Expectations
1. Come prepared with supplies and completed homework.

2. Be kind, polite, and courteous to others.

3. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

4. Be respectful of classmates, teachers, and property

5. Follow directions the first time they are given.

6. Raise your hand if you have question.

7. Listen carefully.

8. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

9. Clean up after yourself.

10. Have Fun!

Discipline Hierarchy
This is an idea of what I would do if a student does not follow directions in my
classroom. I believe keeping it simple and not having to many steps is really
important. I think the first couple of steps will make the students think what they
did and why they should not do it again. Hopefully when the students think about
that they will not have to go down to the next steps.

Discipline Hierarchy

1. Verbal Warning- student will get a verbal warning if they misbehave in the
classroom.
2. Think Time- student will think about what they did and if they do this again
then there will be a consequence.
3. Parent Phone Call- student will have to call home and tell their parents what
they did and if it severe than there can be a teacher- parent conference.

4. Referral- student will be sent to the principal’s office.

Cool Down Corner
I feel like having a calm down corner is nice to have so if a student is misbehaving
instead of giving them a time out you ask them go to the calm down corner. This
can help the students think about what they did in a safe and calm environment.
After I feel they have thought about what they did I can go over to them and talk to
them and ask them how they feel.
Ticket System
I will have a ticket system in my classroom which will help promote positive
student behavior in the classroom. I will pass out these tickets when I see students
doing positive things like being kind to other, sharing, etc. I will also pass out these
tickets when a student accomplishes their work. One they are able to receive a
certain about of tickets they can pick what prize they want. These are some of the
rewards I made up, but I can change them occurring to what my students like.

5 tickets- Get to take shoes off

10 tickets- Write with pen all day
15 tickets- Sit next to a friend
20 tickets- Get to be teachers helper
25 tickets- Eat lunch with the teacher
Brain Breaks
I think it hard for students to sit in one spot all day long so it is important that you
give your students a break. Having brain breaks is a fun way to do that with your
students. This will allow your students brain to be refreshed and they will pay more
attention in your lesson after these breaks.
