Requirements
To install this software on your PC you’ll need:
• SPSS 16 Serial Number
• SPSS 16 and or AMOS 16 Authorization Code.

Note: The SPSS 16 Serial Number and Authorization Code can be found in the text file located in the
directory \\software\Licences\SPSS Only licensed users have access to this information. The Licence
Authorization Code changes every year, you’ll need to update this every year to continue using SPSS.
(The licence expires on the 31st August each year.)

Installation Instructions
Run the SPSS installation Program: \\software\spss\SPSS_16\setup.exe. The following window should
be displayed.

Installing the Legacy Viewer

If you are installing SPSS for the first time on a computer you will need to install the Legacy Viewer in
order to access files created in previous SPSS versions. NOTE: This step is not necessary if you are
upgrading from a previous version of SPSS.

Select “Install Legacy Viewer (SPSS 15.0 SmartViewer)”

Click Next to continue.

Accept the terms in the licence agreement and click Next.

Accept the defaults and click Next to continue.

Click Finish to complete the installation of the Legacy Viewer.

Installing SPSS 16.0 and Amos 16.00

From the start up screen, select “Install SPSS 16.0” or “Install AMOS 16.0” depending on what you want
to use.

Select “Site License” when prompted and click “Next”.

Read the terms of the licence agreement and select “I accept the terms in the license agreement” and
click “Next”.

Read the “ReadMe Information” and click “Next”.

Enter your name and enter the “University of South Australia” in the appropriate fields. You will also need
to enter the serial number for version 16 of SPSS. (Found in the text file located in the directory
\\software\Licences\SPSS)

Accept or change the installation folder and click “Next”.

Click “Install” to install the application. It may take several minutes to install.

At the end of the installation a licence will need to be authorised. Uncheck the “Register with SPSS.com”
check box (optional). Select “OK” to continue.

Select “Licence my product now” and click “Next”.

Select “Next”.

Enter the “Authorization Code”. (Found in the text file located in the directory \\software\Licences\SPSS)

Select “Internet” as the Authorisation Method. Before clicking “Next” select “Configure Proxy Settings”.

Enter the settings as per the screen shot above. Select “OK” on the “Configure Proxy Settings” dialog
box.

If the authorisation succeeds you will see a window similar to the following. Click “Next”.

You should then see a summary of the licence. Click “Finish” to complete the Installation.

Renewing your SPSS 16 Licence

Go to “Start” > “Programs” > “SPSS Inc” and select “SPSS 16.0 License Authorization Wizard”.

Uncheck the “Register with SPSS.com” check box (optional). Select “OK” to continue.

Select “Licence my product now” and click “Next”.

Enter the “Authorization Code”. (Found in the text file located in the directory \\software\Licences\SPSS)
