Turbocharger TCR22 – Refitting the silencer Cus 272 • 04/09

Reason To enable the refitting of the turbocharger on the motor, the socket position
of the compressor casing can be varied.
There are 48 bores on the fastening flange of the silencer for refitting the
silencer on the compressor casing. Only 16 of these bores are used for
mounting the silencer.

Compliance Recommendation

Description The unused bores can cause increased noise emission of the turbocharger
and may result in the penetration of dirt into the compressor.
To prevent this, MAN Diesel has developed cover sheets (544.009) that cover
the unused bores.
Mounting these cover sheets can significantly reduce noise emissions. The
cover sheets also prevent dirt from penetrating here.

Retrofitting For retrofitting, four cover sheets (544.009) are mounted between the silencer
flange and the hexagon nuts (546.091).
TIP! It is not necessary to remove the silencer for this. The individual cover
sheets are positioned and fastened one after the other.

Spare parts MAN Diesel I PrimeServ Turbocharger is providing the cover sheets free of
charge for one year from the date of publication of this Customer Information.
The cover sheets can be obtained from our Technical Service department
using Order No. 544.009.
The retrofitting of the cover sheets is carried out by the on-site machine
personnel.
