Questions for owners

FSM provides the advantage of controlling Tank Pressure closely to the required pressure
But....
• Would it be more efficient to allow the Tank Pressure to ramp up and down within a band instead of using FSM?
• What would be the acceptable tank pressure deviation in this case?
• How many times per day would one of the engines switch from Gas to Oil or Oil to Gas?
• Would it be ideal to automatically rotate the engine used as the “swing” engine to balance the maintenance period of valves/engine use?
• Which conditions would make this the preferred operating mode
mode, versus FSM versus other modes? Laden/Ballast? Range of NBOR? Does
this open opportunity for Dynamic Calculations in the IAS to recommend an operating mode based on Tank Pressure, Power Demand and
calculated NBOR?

ISPS : Requirements at Different Security Levels

• Security level 1: normal, the level at which the ship or port facility normally operates. Security
level 1 means the level for which minimum appropriate protective securityy measures shall be
maintained at all times.
– Restricted Areas – Use of automatic intrusion-detection devices to alert ship’s personnel
of unauthorized access – alarm to activate at a location that is continuously manned or
monitored

• Security level 2: heightened, the level applying for as long as there is a heightened risk of a
security incident.
Security level 2 means the level for which appropriate additional protective security measures

– Restricted Areas - Continuously monitoring surveillance equipment

• Security level 3: exceptional, the level applying for the period of time when there is the
probable or imminent risk of a security incident.
Security level 3 means the level for which further specific protective security measures shall be
maintained for a limited period of time when a security incident is probable or imminent,
although it may not be possible to identify the specific target.
– Restricted Areas - Switching on of all on-board surveillance equipment capable of
recording activities on, or in the vicinity of, the ship. Maximizing the length of time such
surveillance equipment can continue to record

Examples of restricted areas include Engine Room, Areas in control of Cargo Pumps – CCR, ECR,
Crew accommodation, Navigation Bridge

Summary – Marine Approval

• All equipment between Operator Station and Field Instruments need to be
included in the marine certification
• Two different types of approvals
– Type Approval – generic equipment based approval
• Mandatory for vessels
– System Approval – individual submission for the project
• Applied on some FPSO projects, more recently, FPSO owners are requesting Type Approval

• Drivers are made for current operating systems only, not older versions
• Trying

p a failed Operator

could mean that drivers are not available for the installed Operating
System
– Honeywell can buy up to 5 year warranty from DELL to make sure
availability of spare parts during vessel warranty
– Optionally, we can buy additional PC motherboards to keep as spare parts
for each vessel to ensure longer support
– Honeywell has developed VM-Ware Virtualisation support for our R410
Experion Operator Station/History Server to de-couple the Software
from the Hardware LayerLayer. This potentially can be used if spare parts
are not available (as an alternative to system upgrade)

Virtualisation explained
• Virtualisation is the process of converting a Physical PC to a
Virtual PC
• Can be used to isolate the onboard installed system (Operating
System/Experion Software) from future PC Hardware, Drivers
and Operating System
• An Application Window(Shell) is loaded within the new PC
environment to run the existing operator station inside
• Runs Full screen
• Automatic startup
• Virtualisation supported “On Process” by Honeywell from
R400/R410 onwards
