Independent social media based project to foster conversation about innovation in higher education. Colleagues and I are working to make HELIX an
information sharing resource for higher education research, policy, and practice. We would like for HELIX to serve as the springboard for the next
generation of higher education.

Coordinator, TRE Networks (2009-Present)


As a research assistant in Penn State’s Office of Public Partnerships and Engagement (formerly Office of Economic and Workforce Development),
coordinating a national initiative to bring together participants in the “quadruple helix” of business, government, universities, and non-profits for
innovation-driven regional development. Designing and developing toolkits for regional partnership building; researching and pursuing funding
opportunities; planning and coordinating a public policy-focused conference related to regional development; coordinating with partners such as the
Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, Brookings, and the Manufacturing Institute (National Association of Manufacturers), the National
Academies, the Center for American Progress, National Governors Association, and the Council on Competitiveness.

Graduate Research Assistant (2008-2009)


Worked with Dr. Roger Geiger to study how universities foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students and faculty—particularly in
engineering education—including curricular and non-curricular approaches, through promotion and tenure policies, procedures and activities of the
technology transfer office, interdisciplinary curricula and informal programs. Research resulted in recommendations to Penn State’s College of
Engineering for working toward a more entrepreneurial culture.

Graduate Research Assistant (2007-2008)


Worked with Dr. J. Fredericks Volkwein examining the organization and activities of institutional research offices across all sectors of higher education.
Co-authored a chapter—The Structure and Function of Institutional Research Offices—for the forthcoming Handbook of Institutional Research (Jossey-
Bass, in press).

Dean of Academic Technology
Oversaw all aspects of the integration of technology in curriculum—online and in the classroom. Set long-term vision for development of initiatives in
teaching and learning with technology. Facilitated implementation of vision by engaging members of the college community—Academic Affairs, Student
and Enrollment Services, Administration and Finance, and Institutional Advancement—in goal setting and action planning. Managed staff of 15 in
executing plans to: improve and expand professional development efforts, bring new courses and programs online, market distance learning, enhance
existing learning spaces and environments, design and construct new learning spaces, produce a variety of media for use by faculty and students.
Engaged in college-wide efforts including strategic planning and online services development.

Provided leadership for one of New England’s largest online education programs, with 30 degree programs—associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s—
available online. Served as key member of Southern New Hampshire University’s Continuing Education division serving adult and non-traditional
learners. Managed staff of fifteen and $2.2M budget. Managed all functional areas related to the distance education program: faculty development and
instructional support, student services (including academic advising), and marketing and recruitment.

Led faculty and curriculum development for master’s program in educational technology. Supported the development of course delivery strategies and
