CHAPTER III

Research Methodologies

This chapter provided the research methodologies for this research about the causes and

effects of online games among Senior high school students of Sunbeam Christian school of Mati

Inc. This research contained the setting, participants, population and sampling, research design,

instrument, validity and reliability, and ethical considerations.

Setting

The study was conducted at Sunbeam Christian School of Mati Inc. In the second

semester of the school year 2020-2021.

Participants

The participants of this survey are Grade 12 Joshua for they will able to know the effects

of online games.

Population and Sampling

The total population of the grade 12 students was a total of 31. The sampling method

used was Simple Random Sampling which was under Probability Sampling Procedures. The

reason to use this kind of sampling method because of how few students were. Moreover, the

target respondents for the survey were 10 students. The list of the students who will answer this

survey was randomly picked by the researcher.

Research Design
This study used a qualitative research design, employing an exploratory and descriptive

approach. A survey was used using interview guide questionnaires to establish the initial

understanding and background information about the respondent's responses. Also, this was used

to gather current situations that are using.

Instrument

The instrument that the research has used for data gathering was research made survey

questionnaires. The researchers created only five (5) questions. The survey paper included the

name of the respondents. However, respondents had the option not to give their identity.

Validity and Reliability

The survey questions were valid because it was check and clarified by the researcher

herself and the research adviser. The prepared questions did not confuse the respondents. It was

also reliable since the respondents were non-bias and truthful to their answers.

Ethical Considerations

The researcher has followed the principle of ethics thought out of the research process

practical the following principles of ethics.

 Integrity- the researcher kept their promises and agreements, act with sincerity, strive

for consistency of thought and action.

 Respect for Intellectual-Property- the researcher respected the other forms of

intellectual property unpublished data or results were not used without permission.

Credits were given there was no plagiarism.


 Honesty- the researcher spoke the truth and act truthfully to the respondents.
