LOGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING:

ASSIGNMENT #1:
Task 1. Write your personal experience of attending this course, in a sense
that how you feel difference in any way
From a personal point of view, daily life requires us to make a number of choices,
provided that most of them are small and inconsequential, but some are larger and
can decide life. Biased, skewed, partial, uninformed or even prejudiced is much of
our thought. Our reasoning process and quality of the choices we make impact our
quality of life. In this course LOGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING, rational
thinking helps us to strengthen our abilities to make decisions as if forces us to
make deliberate and intentional choices.
Basically, in this subject I just come to know the process of actively and skillfully
conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing and/ or evaluating information
collected from or generalized by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning or
communication as a guide to belief or action or argument which is being
intellectually disciplined. Moreover, being a student at university, the act of being
logically and critically involves judgments and assessments being made. We also
need to be able to evaluate the validity of information and theory, to evaluate their
usefulness or application in specific situations, to make accurate judgments that we
need to be able to distinguish between fact and opinion. Logic and critical thinking
is defined in terms of abilities or skills within the university context, such as
selection, assessment, analysis, reflection, questioning, inference and judgement.
Having many topics helps in good thinking, basically it is a combination of
abilities to think both critically and creatively. Furthermore, our vales, habits and
motivations help to determine whether good thinking abilities are used when
needed or not. The important thing which I have learned in our 14 weeks of
sessions with our teacher, is that is possible to teach and lean possibilities in terms.
Furthermore, for me this subject is very beneficial because the modern business
environment is complicated and, in addition to conflicting ideas and opinions that
create challenges, there is increasing pressure and uncertainty. Understanding the

mechanism of logical thinking allows one to tackle the best challenges, recognize
the risks and make informed choices. According to my understanding up till now
for this course, critical reasoning demands that we: first should gather and
coordinate knowledge that is important, interpreting facts, analyzing proof and
assessing arguments also understand the value of prioritization and recognize any
unstated theories. As per recognizing the existence of logical relationships or
nonexistence. Basically testing our findings on generalizations and communicating
our findings clearly and accurately through the correct use of language. Hence,
rational thought even has business and academic benefits.
Furthermore, I will strive to consistently engage in cognitive processes as a result
of attending this course sessions and reflecting on the experience gained by both
attending and reflecting. I think this is an important skill in management firm or
any company and is essential. I will gain an understanding of my own motives,
prejudices, errors and desires by taking the time to think about my own thinking,
and this should allow me to be strategic in all aspects of my life, personal and
professional, to move forward.
To do this, I am going to; to reflect on my own actions, ideas and plans. And
practice on constant assessment basically will be based on new input and,
reflection be adaptable and ready to change. Definitely I will learn from my
victories and mistakes. Now after these sessions of this course, I can easily
acknowledge my own feelings and their impact on my thoughts and actions.

Conclusively, after covering topics of this course the ability to make the right
decision is fundamental to the task when faced with a problem or a problem. Logic
and critical thinking helps us to understand and assess the positive and negative
results of all possible outcomes in relation to our objectives and goals. Critical
thinking is a skill that, through discovery, analysis and questioning, can help us to
make constructive choices and also generate fresh ideas. The implementation of
logic and critical thinking allows us to arrive at reasoned conclusion with a
complete understanding of its implications. It therefore means that all the
necessary theories are taken into consideration, minimizing the effects of specific
preferences or disputes.

Task 2. Identify any three arguments from any text (newspaper, books, films,
drama). Arguments must be of both types that are induction and deduction.

DEDUCTIVE ARGUMENT:
It is one whose conclusion is claimed to follow its premises with absolute
necessity, this necessity not being a matter of degree and not depending in any way
on whatever else may be the cause.
1.
• One of our customers is unhappy with his experience. He does not like how
long it takes for a return phone call. Therefore, if we provide a quicker
response, he will be more satisfied.
This argument has been taken from a business page article in which employees’
feedback are mentioned.

2.
• Our biggest sales come from executives who live in our company’s home
state. Based on this information, we have decided to allocate more of our
marketing dollars to targeting executives in that state.
This argument is also been taken from business page of newspapers bearing
different articles on marketing strategies.
Each of these statements included two accurate pieces of information and as
assumption based on the first two pieces of information. So long as the first two
pieces of information are correct, the assumption should be accurate.

INDUCTIVE ARGUMENT:
It is one whose conclusion is claimed to follow its premises only with probability
being a matter of degree and dependent on what else may be the cause.

3.
• I normally leave work after 6pm and I am usually able to avoid traffic. As
long as I leave work after 6pm, I will always miss traffic.

This argument has been taken from text related to inductive.

Each of these statements could imply the final premise to be true. However, it is
also possible that the first assumption(s) are not rooted in fact, which means the
conclusion could be false.
