supply chain flows; Examples of supply chains.
Competitive and supply chain strategies; achieving strategic fit; expanding strategic
scope.
UNIT – II 6 Hrs
Supply chain drivers and obstacles, designing distribution network: Drivers of
supply chain performance; A framework for structuring drivers; Facility Inventory,
transportation and information; Obstacles to achieve strategic fit.
The role of distribution in the supply chain; factors influencing distribution network
design; design option for a distribution network; the value of distributors in the supply
chain; Distribution network in practice.
UNIT – III 10 Hrs
Network design: The role of network design in the supply chain; factors influencing
network design decision; a frame work for network design decision; Models for facility
Location and capacity allocation; Making network designs in practice.
The impact of uncertainty on network design; Discounted cash flow analysis;
representation of uncertainty; evaluating network design decision using decision trees;
Inventory management: The role of inventory in a SCM Managing a Multi-echelon cycle
inventory; Estimating cycle inventory related costs in practice.

applications, implementation. Implementation of Six Sigma in Supply Chains.
