Subject : Specifications for the doors

This has reference to your letter DHQC/CECB/ARCHI/MEPI/221216/003 dated 22 nd December, 2016.

We have following comments on the specifications of the doors.

1. Fire resistance rating of 60 minutes is acceptable for the AHU rooms. Same fire resistance rating is
recommended for the chiller plant room door LL3-06-43-D04.
2. We recommend an acoustic rating of Rw 45dB for the following MVAC plant room doors.
(i) Doors of all AHU rooms from LL3 to Roof Level
(ii) Chiller plant room door (Door No. LL3-06-43-D04)
3. Ventilation requirements
(i) Louvered doors for toilet blocks, draught lobbies, directors’ toilets, disabled persons’ toilets,
pantries and janitors rooms, satisfy the ventilation requirements, considering that 50% of the
louvered area is available for ventilation.
(ii) Toilet cubicle doors with 100mm undercut satisfy the ventilation requirements of the areas
concerned.
(iii) There are some rooms (rack unit rooms, store rooms, record rooms, etc.) for which ventilation
to be provided through louvered doors. Please provide louvered doors for the rooms given in
the following table.
