Networking Programming Database Management of Information Systems

INTRODUCTION

Give an introduction to the company here, what the line of business is and where you will fit within the
company. Give an overview of the problem

Bapco is a company that is specialized in oil industry in which it is line of business is in refining, supplying of
petroleum products and gas field. “ITD infrastructure” is a department that combines networking and IT
infrastructure teams. They provide several services that are related to networks and network devices that
run with different processing capabilities to support their business by providing services using workstations,
servers, printers, and storage devices, etc.

During the implementation of this project, the “ITD team” will be constructing and connecting the Bapco’s
databases to a unified network dashboard. Therefore, this will solve the disorganization of having multiple
monitoring tools for multiple departments. The solution will integrate the database systems to connect to
monitoring tool to display network segments, maps, alerts.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Summary (project definition & background)

Having a comprehensive resourceful network dashboard deliver more visualization in terms of data and
reports that are related to the Bapco’s network. In addition, it will be a real-time dashboard in which
network administrator have the ability to make decisions on alerts that are occurring on the Bapco’s
network.

Objectives (general objectives that the system should meet)

Build and connect databases of different infrastructure services, create a real time and reporting
dashboards.

The system should provide:

1. Monitor and send alerts about the uptimes, down times, and slow responding servers.
2. Monitor network devices and calculate bandwidth.
3. Monitor virtual servers.
4. Monitor the system health of connected hardware devices.

Benefits (items that explicitly define the motivation of the project idea)

1. Provide on-demand visibility and insight to the core IT infrastructure which are LANs, WANs,
servers, websites, and applications.
2. Help make decisions and take actions quickly by solving the alarms that are logged in the monitoring
tool.
3. Monitor the overall network performance and evaluate the progress.
4. Enhance Collaboration and Communication between different infrastructure teams in which sharing
data and reports function is available.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Technical requirements:

1. Create and connect infrastructure services databases and portal.

2. Build dashboards for different infrastructure services and components.
3. Integrate these dashboards.
4. Fault management
5. Vulnerability management
6. Server management
7. Application management
8. Performance management

DELIVERABLES

Give a list of any deliverables (with deadlines) for the project. Make sure to include both deliverables
required by the company and deliverables required as part of the course requirements. The list should
include documentation as required by the company.

PROJECT PLAN

Describe the different stages (with deadlines) of the project. Please ensure that all steps of the
Software/System Development Life Cycle are included or provide justification if not.

Initiation: This will be in the first week of the training placement in Bapco and it will last for one week “5
Days”.

Planning: This will be started after initiation is finished and it will last for two weeks “10 Days”. This will
include multiple project management sequences which are:

Scope planning – Feasibility Analysis – Time Management – Cost Management – Quality Management –
HR Management – Communication Management – Risk Management – Procurement Management -

Execution: This will be started after planning is finished and it will last for 6 weeks “30 Days”. This will
include multiple implementation sequences which are:

Designing – Installation – Configuration – Develop Primary Features (Develop Alpha Version/ Usability
Testing/ Develop Beta Version)

Monitoring and Controlling: This will be started after execution is finished and it will last for two weeks
“10 Days”.

Closing: This will be started after execution is finished and it will last for one week “5 Days”.

Describe the methodology expected to be followed to monitor the progress of the development (and any
software that may be used i.e Microsoft Project, Trello, …)

The methodology followed to monitor the development of the project will utilize “Microsoft Project” in
order to plan the sequence of project development.
