certainly fall into genre. (Scheneider, 2005). Reporting is an act of informing by verbal report.
(www.google.com). It͛s also an account presented usually in detail. (www.wikipedia.com).
One day you will have to share information with a group of people and also to listen
actively while others give their reports. Reports helps to sharpen our general communication
skills, build specific reporting skills and heighten your critical listening abilities these skill will be
useful the rest of our life͛s. (Prentice, et al, 2005)
Today͛s generation simple rule of the formal ways of teaching is reporting moreover
they perceived, they mentors basically as individuals who could relied upon and be able to
reach as in common lesson with such knowledge that go beyond the books and handouts with
such new ways and method. Reporting is one of the requirements of the student who wants to
pass their subjects. It is also an important responsibilities related to the academic qualities.
Reports often use persuasive elements, such as graphics, image, voice, or specialized
vocabulary in order to persuade that specific audience to undertake an action. One of the most
common formats for presenting report is introduction, methods, result, and discussion. In
reporting there are certain characteristic that is being developed, such as confidence, self
reliance, self discipline, time management, determination. If these characteristic were
developed, it may help the students to improve their higher learning. And also reporting is one
of the methods used by teachers to participate their students in their class. It enhances the
confidence and capability of the students to share their knowledge. It is effective is an
interaction to both part of the listener and the reporter. Reporters catch up the attention of the
audience ad well as them to participate in report.(www.wikipedia.com).
Reporting is not a sterile process of making sounds, uttering words, and creating talk,
rather it is a complicated process, rooted in thinking and feeling that involves complex mental
and physical action. In its simplest form it is person-to-person talk. At its highest level it is an art
that is characterized by expert use of the voice, proficient and intuitive use or of language,
logical and psychological employment of thought, awareness of human needs and of human
reactions, and a genuine concern for producing a responsible speech product. The art of
reporting is use of the voice to create from the raw material of language, thought, knowledge
and feelings, a composite that has the potential of great impact upon then listener. Thus, it can
be a powerful instrument w/can cause society to modify its behavior. (Dale et al, 2006)
Reporting to a group of people involves a great deal of risk. Learning how to give a
report in front of group, your self confidence will grow. As you become more confident as
public speaker you͛ll gain confidence in your ability to communicate in general. It will become
easier to speak out in class or in small groups.
To the inexperience speaker an audience often seems like an ogre, an imagined monster
lying in wait to swallow him. He holds the audience responsible for the long days of
preparation, hard work, anxiety and nervousness that precede his appearance before it.
Reporters have some real concerns, fear of failures, forgetting what to say, being rejected, or
having their ideas rejected by a listener. Also many have fear being in front of a group. Most of
these fears and risks are related and fall under the broad reading of communication
apprehension. Fortunately, audiences don͛t devour speakers, a fact that you soon learn. Along
w/ this knowledge come poise, skill and maturity as experience increases and soon you look
forward to the stimulation that accompanies contact w/ an audience. Part of the problem of
fear, nervousness or anxiety stems from the concept you may have of what constitutes an
audience. If you think of it as a solid mass of people, a giant like entity w/ a single mind but w/
dozen of eyes staring of you determined to make you ill at ease you͛re on the wrong back. (Dale
et al, 2006)
An oral report is a very special type of informative speech is commonly used in class
rooms. Its gathers information together and explains it to a particular group for a purpose. Oral
reports simply summarize a series of facts.
