Western Loudoun using new homeschooling formula

W e dne sday, Mar. 2 by Laura Pe te rs | 0 com m e nts | Em ail this story

A new mix of traditional school and homeschooling is emerging in western Loudoun. The new
method is called Classical Conversations.

The new method has close to 500 programs across the country and 26,000 students. Purcellville
has its own group that meets Fridays at Blue Ridge Bible Church.

Monday through Friday, parents work with their children and then meet on Fridays to hold
“school”. At “school,” the children participate in oral presentations, science projects, art and
more.

“Classical Conversations has transformed my home school by reminding me that children are
capable of excellence and equipping me to encourage and teach them,” said Julia Shaw Fuller,
whose three children are enrolled in the group. “The weekly classes offer my children the
opportunity to interact with other

Christians striving for academic excellence, to be held accountable, and to see that learning is a
true joy. I am blessed by the community that we have found in Classical Conversations.”

Jennifer Warren-Baker, a Purcellville piano teacher who home schools her son likes the
emphasis on developing oral and writing skill.
