Community Support Worker

KNH is seeking a self motivated, high energy, compassionate individual with experience working with a multi-
barriered population to oversee the running of the Steeves Manor Resource Room in a large BC Housing facility
with over 200 tenants.

Working collaboratively and under the general direction of the Program Coordinator, the Community Support
Worker is the person-in-charge for the day-to-day operation of the Steeves Manor Resource Room and plays a
leadership role in his/her team to organize and direct daily activities. The Community Support Worker works to
engage tenants and community in activities and initiatives that support their needs using a strength based
participant directed model of service delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To work as part of a team to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all tenants.
• Engage tenants in an annual planning process and implement a logic model, monitoring framework and
evaluation tools that will support the needs of the tenants.
• Complete quarterly and annual reports that are both qualitative and quantitative.
• Set-up systems to help with the day to day smooth running of the program.
• Complete a daily staff log.
• Design and implement promotional materials.
• Oversee the Resource Centre and provide resource and referral information as required.
• Engage in Community Development and build partnerships with local community agencies.
• Work with tenants to plan special events including an annual health fair.
• Develop a volunteer program which includes job descriptions, tracking hours, building community
capacity through volunteerism and provide volunteer training opportunities for tenants.

Qualifications and Skills Required:


• Post secondary education in a related field or equivalent training and experience.
• Successful experience working with vulnerable, low-income adults and seniors who may also be living
with a physical disability and/or mental health challenge.
• Experience with program planning, development and delivery.
• Experience working with volunteers.
• Strong knowledge of community resources and services.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
• Strong conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to set up healthy boundaries and work as a team.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Attitudes and values which are compatible with the goals and philosophy of Kitsilano Neighbourhood
House.
• Willingness to engage in the development and implementation of special events and celebrations hosted
by the Neighbourhood House.
• Class 4 or ability and willingness to attain one.

Job Details:
Salary: $18.00 - $19.50 per hour
Schedule: 32 hours per week, occasional evening and weekend work
Location: 3rd and Wallace St. Vancouver
Expected Start Date: ASAP
