Basic steps of modeling and simulations
TASK#1: Downloading and Installing the COMSOL Software

Registering with COMSOL Access:

 Click the link for downloading the software as given in the software download email
from your COMSOL representative. This link is identical or similar to:
www.comsol.com/product-download.
 You are now given the options of downloading the COMSOL online installer or the
COMSOL offline installer (an ISO image). 2 You are now given the options of
downloading the COMSOL online installer or the COMSOL offline installer (an ISO
image).
Running the COMSOL Installer:

The steps for running the COMSOL Installer are independent of the installation media option
you used.
1. Select your language for the installation and click Next. The language selected is also your
default language in COMSOL. You may also need to install the fonts for the languages that
you want to use when running COMSOL.
2. After selecting one of the four options, the following is displayed.

3. If Change License was selected in Step 2,first select Use a current paid license, to use
an existing license, or Specify new license, to use a new license, from the License list.
PRODUCTS PAGE

1. In the product page you are able to install which product, library and documentation
to install. Select the COMSOL products to install, which applications and
documentation to install, and specify the path to the COMSOL installation folder.

OPTIONS PAGE:
This page has a valuable use to create a shortcut. All the shortcut are selected by default.
Select the next options.

LIVELINK PAGE:
2. The LiveLink page contains installation settings for the LiveLink™ products: - Install LiveLink™
for Excel® for all users. If you select this check box, the installation of LiveLink™ for Excel® is
global to the machine and is available no matter which user is logged on. Otherwise, the
installation is only available to the current user.

LICENSE MANAGER PAGE:

 3. The License Manager page appears if the COMSOL Installer installed the FlexNet license
manager and your computer has been designated to run the license server. If this page does
not appear you can manage the license server using LMTOOLS; see Starting the License
Manager.

Install Page:
4. When you click Install the utility now installs or updates COMSOL. The installation process
might take several minutes.

FINISH PAGE:
 1. This window appears when the installation is finished.

The comsol multiphysic has been installed.

Note:
 My comsol Multiphysics 5.5 has already been installed but I take the help of the web.

Task.2: Basic step of Modeling and Simulations

1. NEW FILE: Double click on comsol icon and open comsol multiphysics and click on
Model Wizard.

2. Select Space Dimension: In space Dimension select 3D and click on DONE.

3. Select Physic: In select physic click on Structure Machines and then select Solid
Mechanics(Solid) and click on add and add it. To know more about the Machines of
this material click on study and select the parameters.
4. Select Study: Select the Eigenfrequency option as mentioned and marks as done.

5. Model Builder: Select the parameter of your own choice. Like I selected the length
unit in mm and angular unit in Degree. After selection of all the parameters click on
Build All.
6. Selection of Block: Click on the geometry and select the block and select the size and
shape parameters.

7. Build Selected: After choosing all the parameters click on the buid selected.
8. Mesh: it divide the solid mechanics into section.
