My thirst for knowledge started right from my school days. I had my schooling at BHEL
Matric High School, which fosters the absolute usage of English Language and is rated as
one of the best schools in the state. I secured 88% in my tenth grade with 100% in
Mathematics and 96% in my twelfth grade with 98.5% in Mathematics which provided me an
opportunity to pursue my baccalaureate degree at the College of Engineering, Guindy,
Anna University that admits only the top 0.1% of students in the state and is one of the
Premier Institutes for Engineering in India. I chose Electrical and Electronics Engineering
discipline for its versatility and avenues it opens up.
I did variety of courses during my undergraduate study that gave me an exposure to many
computer oriented papers apart from electrical and electronics such as fundamentals of
computing, digital systems, computer architecture and C++. I have excelled in all these
papers because of my keen interest in this field. I was also exposed to various programming
labs which helped a lot in acquiring an in-depth knowledge. All these courses laid a solid
base to understand the way things work in the field of computers. Further to hone my skills I
took up courses on C and C++ in a private institute outside college due to my keen interest
in programming area. As a freshman I was also actively involved in my College’s National
Service Scheme and Sports Organization till my senior year which helped me develop my
interpersonal and leadership skills. I had also captained my department cricket team for
inter-departmental tournaments from my sophomore year till senior year.
My academic performance, knowledge in subjects, good programming skills and passion for
excellence made me step into IT major, TATA Consultancy Services Limited during my
seventh semester of under-graduation through on-campus placement. I started my career as
a Tester doing End to End System Integrated testing of real world Telecommunication
networks which involve twenty software’s and four databases that are integrated with each
other. During this tenure, I undertook a challenging opportunity to develop a JAVA based
tool for measuring the testing efforts burned by a team of twelve members on a single day.
Though I was not much exposed to advanced JAVA programming till then, I started working
on it sincerely reading through the core concepts which also helped me to sharpen my
programming ability. I was able to complete the application successfully which was duly
appreciated and I was awarded ‘STAR OF THE MONTH’ during November 2009. This
geared me to take up the Sun Certified Java Programmer course to further hone my skills.
I have completed the same successfully and I am sure it will give me an edge when I join
your esteemed institution.
My proven technical capability led my promotion from Tester to Team Lead within a span of
14 months from my date of joining the organization. In addition to proving myself technically I
proved myself as an excellent Team Lead meeting deadlines and handling pressures
effectively and efficiently in appreciation of which I was again awarded ‘STAR OF THE
QUARTER’ for the second quarter(April-June) of 2010. Now with two and half years of
experience I am currently involved with Test Designing of Telecommunication Networks and
supervising a team of twelve testers. Also I am happy to bring to your notice that I had
politely refused my current organization’s on-site offer to the United Kingdom and work for
two years from March 2011 in Test Designing as I am very passionate about my Graduate
Degree in Computer Science.
I convey my heartfelt thanks for considering and reviewing my application to your esteemed
university.
Sincerely,
