1. Major symptom
Lock up at KM Logo screen during power up cycle.
Can not access to PageScope Web Connection.
C35 receives print job, Fax job or scans copying original but nothing print
out.
Configuration page can not be printed either.
3. Countermeasure FW
FW version: A121-30G0-0622-05
A. NV-RAM data corruption (overwritten by indefinite value)
Data might be corrupted during the print process of Copy or FAX job. (cf. no
problem with the print process of Print job and internal page)
[Symptom]
Counter data on NV-RAM will be gone/lost. Freeze at KM logo at start-up, in the
worst case.
C. Failure of print job control table for Copy/FAX/Internal page (except Print
job)
Might happen at following conditions;

4. Counter action
Corrective action:
A. Freeze at KM logo
Please isolate the symptom with “CheckList_Freeze_110126.xls,” and take
proper action, NV-RAM recovery or hardware failure
To recover the corrupted NV-RAM data, please refer to the
“bhC35_Freeze_Recovery_Feb17.doc.”
For the hardware failure, please check and clean the surface of the MFP
board.
B. Fax job stuck, data corruption, C023
Data on SSD might be corrupted.
Please execute SSD Low-level Format (Adming settings) to clear it.
Please upgrade the Controller firmware to A12130G0062205 or later ones.
C. Other symptom
Please upgrade the Controller firmware to A12130G0062205 or later ones.
Preventive action:
Upgrade the FW to A121-30G0-0622-05 or later ones.

bizhub C35 — Recovery Procedure for Freeze at KM Logo —
February 17, 2011
This document describes how to recover the defective device, freezes at KM logo when stating up.
Only effective for the case caused by printer controller firmware failure.
Please check followings if it is firmware failure beforehand (can be recovered by this procedure).
Always stop at KM logo screen when starting up, no change or progress
No PageScope Web Connection reachable, no PC print response at KM logo screen displayed
Other than above, it might be related to hardware failure.
1. Preparation
Recovery SSD 1 pcs (recovery firmware installed)
USB Memory Stick 1 pcs
bizhub C35 Service Manual [ Field Service ]
2. Recovery
2.1. Confirm if the bizhub is power off.
Turn it off when it is on.
2.2. Remove the original SSD.
SSD is located on the MFP board.
A small disassembling is required to access the
SSD.
2.3. Set the recovery SSD.
Be careful!
The size of the receptacle on the MFP board is too big
where the SSD might be set in the wrong position, 1-pin
shifted.
The bizhub will freeze at KM logo with the SSD in the
wrong position as well!
2.4. Turn on the bizhub and wait for the ready status.
The failure status of the NV-RAM is reset when bizhub starts up.
2.5. Turn off the bizhub and exchange the SSDs
From the recovery one to the original one.
3. Rewriting firmware
3.1. Rewrite the latest firmware.
Follow the Service Manual, 6.2.1. C. How to write firmware data, steps 1 to 10.
Select the Controller firmware (file) at step 7, bhC35-CNT-G0062205.exe or later one.
The bizhub will automatically restart after the firmware upgrade is done correctly.
4. FAQ
4.1. Printer icon on the display after the recovery and firmware rewrite
Symptom: printer icon on LCD, cannot delete it. no print possible.
Cause: corrupted Fax job remains on SSD
Action: please execute SSD Low-level Format (Admin settings) to clear it.
