INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Procedure:
1. Install Driver,
2. Install PonyProg 2000,
3. Install Restorer.

1) Install Driver:
a. Open the folder ‘Driver’ on the CD, double click on the PL-2303
Driver Installer. Follow instructions.
b. Ensure COM port 2 has been selected. Right click My Computer,
Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Ports, right click ‘Prolific
USB-Serial Comm Port, Properties, Port Settings, Advanced,
select com port 2.

2) Install PonyProg 2000:


a. Open the folder ‘Software’, ‘PonyProg 2000’. Double click on the
‘Setup’ file. Follow instructions.
b. Once installed, open the program.

c) Set pointer 1 to ‘MicroWire16 eeprom’.
d) Set pointer 2 to ‘9346’.
e) Click ‘Setup’ and run calibration.
f) Click ‘Setup’, ‘Interface Setup’. Select ‘Serial’ and
‘COM2’.

3) Install Restorer:
a) Copy all the files found under the ‘Software’,
‘Restorer’ folder, to any folder on the hard drive.

b) Open Restorer.
c) Set pointer 1 to ‘COM2’.
d) Set pointer 2 to ‘Native’

RESETTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Type A:

1. Remove the chip from the image unit and insert the chip into
the socket on the resetera.
2. Run PonyProg2000.

3. Click ‘Open Device File’ and select the chip data that is to
written onto the chip. (If the chip date is not available, refer
to ‘Reading and Saving Chip Data’)

4. Click ‘Write Device’ . When prompted ‘Are you sure you


want to write the device?’, click ‘Yes’.
5. Once ‘Write Successful’ is displayed, remove the chip and
reinsert it into the image unit.

Type B:

1. Remove the Image Unit / Toner chip to be reset, from the


machine.
2. Connect the crocodile clips to the chip. Ensure to connect the
Black crocodile clip to the GND and the Red to the I/O on the
chip.

3. Run Restorer.

4. Click on READ DS2432.
5. Click on Unlock Status Page.
6. Click on Open, browse for the chip data.
7. Select the chip data to be written to the chip. (If the chip
date is not available, refer to ‘Reading and Saving Chip Data’)

8. Click on Write EEPROM (By use current secret).

9. Click on Write Status.


10. Reinstall the chip to the Image Unit / Toner Cartridge.

Note: If ‘DSQ8’ or ‘DS2431’ is engraved on a chip, it cannot be reset


as of yet. These chips have an encryption programmed onto
them, as soon as we are able to crack the encryption, you will
be notified on how to reset these chips, via email from our
Support Team. Please contact salesperson for spare chips.

Ensure that either PonyProg or Restorer is open at once. These


programs cannot operate at the same time.

READING AND SAVING CHIP DATA:

If certain chip data is not available with release of the User CD,
data can be read and saved by each user. Follow the steps below:

1. Remove the chip from a NEW Image Unit / Toner Cartridge


from the machine you require the chip data from. Ensure that
the unit has not been installed or used before.
2. Depending on which type of chip is needed to be read (Type A
/ B), open the related program.
3. Connect the chip to Chip Resetera Unit.
4. Read the chip and save the data by clicking ‘File’, ‘Save’.
5. Create a folder and rename it by the machines model and name
the file to be saved by the model and colour of Image Unit /
Toner Cartridge. (eg: C252 Black IU).

As more machines are researched, extra Chip Data will be collected


and emailed to each Chip Resetera user. By emailing your collection
of extra chip data to the Chip Resetera Team’s collection, you will
be updated with extra chip data as soon as a collection is modified
from other Chip Resetera users’, free of charge.
