Description

This article explains how to use the reset button on the FortiGate 60C, the FortiWiFi 60C and other small
business models which have a the reset button.

Scope

FortiGate 60C, FortiWiFi 60C, and other small business models with the reset button.

Solution

The FortiGate 60C, FortiWiFi 60C and other small business models with a reset button can have their
configuration reset to the default factory configuration by using the reset button. The location of the
button is shown below.

The behaviour of the reset button will depend also upon the firmware version that is being used.

* Firmware v4.0 MR3 Patch5 (build 0513):

The reset button can be pressed at any time and the unit will perform a factory reset. The following
message should be displayed on the console immediately after the button is pressed.

System is resetting to factory default...

After the unit reboots the default configuration will be active in the same way as if the CLI command
#execute factoryreset had been used.

* Firmware v4.0 MR3 Patch6 (build 0521):

The reset button can only be used in the first 30 seconds after the box is back to normal after a power-
cycle. After this time interval the reset button is disabled.

It should be noted that a power-cycle is required and that using the CLI command #execute reboot may
not be sufficient to enable the reset button.
