1. Give two misconceptions about violence on women and children.
How you break
these false beliefs? First, is that women and children are the primary target of violence. We must stop our kind of thinking that only those who are weak in the society are the ones who are being abused especially the children and women. Our society had already been into many transitions wherein anyone now has their own way to survive and fight for their selves. We must not be blinded that there are also cases of abused husbands made by their wives. Women are already empowered today and we have the choice whether we use it to fight for our rights or worse to degrade others. Children are already now introduced to various things where they can already learn to use weapons even at an early age. Today, the LGBTQ are also the most victim of abuse because others can’t accept them. We must always take note that everyone can be a victim of violence no matter what your gender is or what age you are because we are all living things who all have emotions and vulnerable to any kind of violence. We must always learn to fight for our rights in a right manner. Second is that men are the only abusers. In most cases we see that men are the most causes of violence that takes place. But also there are women who do violence especially on our fellow Filipinos who work abroad wherein because of jealousy, foreign women tend to abuse them and worse case is that they come into their home lifeless. We must always remember that anyone have the potential to do violent things so we must always take care of ourselves and don’t indulge ourselves to violent things in order for us to be the human, God wants us to be. 2. In your capacity as a concerned citizen, how do you help end VAWC cases in your community. As a part of the Sophomores, I can help through being a good example of woman to my friends and to the younger one’s by always wearing decent clothes and keeping a good character wherever I am. I can also help in educating my younger cousins to be always choose the right thing to do even though everybody chooses to do a bad one. I can also use my social media to raise awareness on violence that women and children are not the only victims but everyone no matter what and who they are. But significantly I should always know my worth as a human and as a woman to protect myself from any form of abuse to be able to inspire others to always remember their worth and not give on to their selves in violence. 3. Why is trafficking in persons difficult to solve? If you were a Councillor in your town, what project could you propose to help trafficking victim recover? It is hard to solve the issue upon human trafficking because of poverty. Most victims are the ones who had a poor lifestyle because it is their mind-set that this is the easiest way for them to have a lot of money so they their self into it, degrading their self and not thinking anymore about their worth as human. Also, worse case is that there are parents who push their children into it for the sake of large amount of money. So, if I were a councillor I would propose a project called “Save The Generation, Stop Human Trafficking” wherein this project will punish those who will be caught engaging in human trafficking and be brought to a place where they will be keep. They will be educated there and help them recover through one on one talk on them with the help of a Psychologist to help them change their mind-set. After that they will be released and given a chance to live a better life. Also, there will be a summer job for those age 15 and above to help them in their financial needs. There will be also a seminar every month for families to help them not engage in human trafficking.
