Agenda Discussion Points (Updates from CICT)

Meeting No. : 05
Date of Meeting : 4 March 2011
Time of Meeting : 9:00 AM

What happens after the close-out activities

1. Guidelines to ALS Contracting Scheme

During the close-out activities, some of the eSkwela Centers (especially the Centers led by
NGOs and private organizations) have asked for support from DepEd-BALS. Dir. Guerrero
mentioned that these groups can get support through the ALS Contracting Scheme. We
found a copy online and would like to share this with you.

We have also cleared this with Ms. Mel Albino of BALS; she added that these guidelines are
currently being revised, but these are the effective guidelines to date.

2. Get your community to support your eSkwela Center through Adopt A School

To address the operational sustainability of your eSkwela Center, organizations and

individuals in your community may be more inclined to support if they get incentives in
return. Through DepEd's Adopt A School Program, they “may obtain tax incentives,
strengthened corporate image and goodwill within the school community”. For more
information, you may refer to this file:

Again, we have cleared this with Ms. Mel Albino of DepEd-BALS, and that this can be used
for eSkwela. We expect however, that this has to be coordinated with your local DepEd
office, should you want to offer it to potential donors and supporters.

3. Meeting with eSkwela Regional Coordinators (RCs)

As you know, the eSkwela RCs will be taking on some of the roles of the CICT-eSkwela
Project Management Office after April 2011. We will be meeting with them on March 14-
16 to to discuss along with these other topics:

• involvement of recipients of PhilCeC computer packages with the PhilCeC

community after the deployment
• training on how to use the eSkwela Portal / system
• refresher on tasks and responsibilities related to providing assistance on eSkwela
Center set-up, operations, M&E
• follow-through on the action plans prepared during the close-out activities – we
expect you to work with your respective RCs re: the improvement and
implementation of your action plans

The eSkwela Social Franchise Manual

We are currently revising the eSkwela Social Franchise Manual, and we would like to let you
participate in identifying what other topics you want to be included in it (concerning
eSkwela set-up, management and operational sustainability). Please go to the eSkwela
Ning site, to the CM group – we have created a discussion forum for you to write down
your thoughts on this.

You may look at the manual at http://scr.bi/eSkwelaSocialFranchiseManual

Dr. Melinda Bandalaria's comments on Communication Plans of Luzon Cms

For Center Management Training participants (Luzon; Batangas run) – Dr. Mel Bandalaria
has already sent her comments on your communication plans. You may download it at

Materials for End of Project Report

During the previous online meeting, we have asked for you to send in materials in relation
to Center set-up and operations. We are reposting one of the discussion topics from the
previous online meeting for everyone's reference:

Collection of stories, pictures, videos from the eSkwela Centers

Apart from the numbers as reflected in the ALS MIS forms, we also want to employ multimedia and
make use of stories, sounds, still and moving pictures as a means of monitoring and evaluation. As
a bonus, we will be giving prizes to the best submissions – although we ask you to temper your
expectations re: prizes (we're not giving away laptops, for sure; these are simple giveaways that
we hope you'll appreciate).

Details and mechanics will be posted in the eSkwela CM online group. Do watch out for this!

6
Additionally, the best submissions will be included in the End-of-project publication that
we plan to release during the turnover ceremony. Please watch out for the mechanics to
be released in the eSkwela Ning by next week :)

Thank you and Happy Weekend!
