A. INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
i. FACSys Server CD.
ii. Licenses - A server license is required in order to install the FACSys Server software.
Please go through the Licensing Model for your FACSys version and see if you will
need the Client License Model or Channel License Model and obtain the appropriate
licenses.
iii. A Diva Server fax card:
1. If you have not yet done so, download the Diva Server software from
http://www.eicon.com/support/downind.asp
Choose the latest version for “Diva Server for Windows 2000/XP/2003”
2. Diva Server Adapters – Installation Guide (all Diva Server documents are
online at http://www.eicon.com/worldwide/support/docs.htm)
iv. Make sure you have all the details about the configuration of the phone lines that will
be connected to the fax server before you start the installation. This information can
be obtained from your Telco or the PBX administrator (if the lines are coming from an
internal PBX)

B. SOFTWARE and DIVA CARD INSTALLATION

i. Install the FACSys Server software following the standard installation procedure
documented in your FACSys Administrator manual.

ii. Power off the computer and install the Eicon board: into a PCI slot. Currently 5V and
3.3V PCI slots are supported.

iii. Power on the computer. After the OS has finished loading, the board will be detected
and a “New hardware wizard” will be launched. Cancel the wizard at this time.
Browse to the folder where you have downloaded the driver files and run the
setup.exe utility. If you don’t see the setup.exe, it must be extracted from the file you
obtained from Eicon’s website, which is a self extracting archive.

The setup will detect and install the appropriate drivers for all the Diva Server fax
boards in your system.
For digital fax boards, the setup will prompt you to choose the switch type
configuration (the options in this step are greyed out for the analog boards). If you are
updating from a prior driver version, you can select the option “Use existing switch
type configuration”, which will preserve the current settings. Otherwise, leave the
option unchecked and select the correct protocol for your T1 line D-channel. Your

Telco or PBX administrator should be able to provide the correct information for this
step. This setting can be adjusted after the driver installation through the Diva Server
Configuration Manager.

Accept the default settings for the rest of the steps and complete the setup.
In the last step, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Remove this option
and restart the computer only after the board settings are configured below.

iv. Configure other board options: start the Diva Server Configuration Manager through
the Start Menu / Programs / Diva Server for Windows. On the left hand-side, all of the
detected adapters, along with the bindings between Services, Adapters and
Telephony lines are displayed. On the right-hand side, the details for the highlighted
option (on the left) are displayed:

It is recommended that the RAS Service bound to the board be removed. This can
be done by highlighting the RAS Service, and pressing the Del Key.

Select the Advanced settings button on the toolbar ( ) then, for each adapter
installed, select the telephony line(s) and proceed with the rest of the settings. Most
settings here can be left at the default values, unless advised otherwise by the Eicon
support or by your telephony administrator. Please see the screenshots below for the
options available for a T1 PRI digital board and for a 4 port analog board,
respectively.

When you have finished configuring the board(s) you must apply the changes. Either
use the menu File / Activate click the Activate button on the toolbar ( ). Allow the
Configuration Manager reboot the server for the changes to take effect.

v. Update FACSys with the files required for interoperability with the newest Eicon SDK
The FACSys server has to be updated with the newest files required in order to
achieve compatibility with the newest supported Eicon devices. These files can be
downloaded from the following URL: http://www.facsys.com/go/eicondlls
The ZIP file contans 2 subfolders, one for FACSys 4.9x and the other for FACSys 5.0.
Please use the files corresponding to the version of your server. You may have to
stop the FACSys services in order to install the files. There are 2 files for each
version: the fxdevcap.dat and the divadspi.dll. The fxdevcap.dat should be copied
to the root of the path where your FACSys Server software is installed (usually
C:\FACSys for version 4.9x or C:\Program Files\FACSys\FACSys Services for
FACSys 5). The divadspi.dll should be copied to the Drivers subfolder of that path.

C. FACSys Configuration
Open the FACSys Administrator and connect to the server, then go to Devices, right
click, select New Device then add the appropriate device(s):

After adding the devices, you will have to enable the channels. You can highlight
multiple channels, then right-click and select Properties. Enable the option “Device is
online and enabled for operation”, and then configure the sending and receiving
options as per your needs. After all channels have been configured, allow the
FACSys Administrator tool to restart the services when prompted to do so.

This completes the Installation of the FACSys – Diva Server Interface.

D. Testing
i. Using the FACSys client that you installed onto the FACSys Server, connect and
transmit from the new installation to a known ‘manual’ fax machine.
ii. Using the FACSys client on the FACSys Server, connect and transmit a loopback
fax (i.e. transmit an outbound fax to a number coming into the same server).
iii. Using another fax device, transmit a fax to the a known number on the newly
installed FACSys Server.

If these three tests work, your system is fully functional for inbound and outbound faxing
on the Diva Server with FACSys.

E. Troubleshooting
There are a few registry settings that are specific to the integration with Eicon boards.
They can be found under the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FACSys\Eicon Settings. If you are
experiencing channels getting stuck for a long time, please use the following registry
controls:
a. ConnectTimeout - (DWORD, in seconds, default 120 seconds) - controls the timeout
period after which the lines will be disconnected if the call could not be connected.
b. IdleTimeout - (DWORD, in seconds, default 600 seconds) - controls the timeout
period after which the lines will be disconnected if the communication was started, but
there was a timeout during transmission.
c. ForceDisconnect - (DWORD, 0 or 1, default 0) - if set to 0, when a timeout occurs, it
will be logged in the fax manager log, but the driver will take no action. If set to 1, the
line will be disconnected when a timeout occurs.

The Diva Server software comes with a number of tools that can be used to troubleshoot
the settings, connection and communication problems. All of them can be found under
Start menu / Programs / Diva Server for Windows. Of a particular interest are Diva Server
Line Test which can be used to test the connection to the Telco and to send and receive
test faxes and the Diva Server Diagnostics which will create log files when requested by
the Eicon support department.
