these qualities are necessary

to run the dept efficiently

and effectively.

About Prof CR Sarma, she

said, that he never lost his

temper and always expected

his students to stretch

beyond their expectations.

Once when he was angry at

her work, she knew that if

He has been able to bring

his college into city’s top

colleges within few years

of establishment. This is

what his students had to

In olden days, students learnt a way of life from their teachers, not just the subject. Nowadays,

education has become a race to be run, instead of assimilation of knowledge. The worth of

learning is only measured in terms of what it gets for the student. While the society is paying

heavily for education, the returns in terms of commitment of teachers is less. We as a community

of teachers need to accept and look into this. – Dr S Nagabhushana Rao, Chief Guest

Repeating the lessons

patiently, treating all

children alike irrespective

of their behaviour- these

are some qualities of Ch

Venugopal of Rajadhani

Model High School. E

Vinathi and N Geetha of

Gayathri High School are

also favourites of their

students due to their love

and patience.

Meera Verma, of Delhi

Public School fell

suddenly ill and sent an e-

mail about her nursery

teacher Sujata Misra. She

remembers how as a child

she was afraid of public

speaking and how this

teacher carried her to the

confidence to overcome

her stage fear.

Ramesh Kandikonda of SchoolCanvas.com conducted a lively JAM session for the audience. He offered a prize to anyone who could speak about their school in Telugu for one minute without using English words. It was hilarious to see how English has pervaded our native language. Two people did succeed in the attempt. The biggest surprise was Madhan Kumar and Siddhartha Ghosh (both non-Telugus) speaking quite well in Telugu.

In the first round, contestants were asked to write about their teaching experience. In the second round they were asked interesting questions like – what would you do if the students threw chalk at you, what is your most disapoointing or happiest moment, what would you do if a student doesn’t understand in spite of your explanation, what will make you happier – a dull student passing an exam or a bright student topping the class.
