This cool, little, aluminum reel has a spool width of only 5/8" and is just 2-5/8" in diameter. I find it odd
that such an obviously competent machinist would make a reel that is so well finished, yet would skimp
on the minor details ...such as not countersinking each foot to an equal depth and not using a screw
that sat more flush in the recess of the knob (which looks to me like it came from a Montague reel).
Although, each of these screws does sit nice and flush on the inside of the reel. Just a matter of
priorities, I guess. Or, he, like me, only liked to do stuff once ...and however it turned out is just how it
was.

But, it sure is good lookin' ...and light as a feather. It has a silent-drag, that while incredibly basic, is
perfectly functional and effective.

I seem to have a knack for finding one-off reels. I should have kept them all ...it would have made for a
neat collection.

Dean.

interesting, he copied the drag brake from a Montague casting reel.

the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

I agree ...it has a definite Connecticut look about it. Sort of Holmes-like too.
