Hazen: Good Morning to everyone.

Welcome to Mathematics Week Celebration 2010

with its theme, “Learning Mathematics for Global Competitors”.

Carina: There’s just a glimpse of what this day can hold depending on what we
actually get up this early Monday …

Before we start let’s all together focus on God, to keep ourselves in the right
attitude and receive his supernatural blessing and energy. The prayer is to be led
by Kishi Nishino, vice president of math club and to be followed by the singing of
the national anthem that will be conducted by the assistant secretary Yasmin Yvon
Suyat.

Hazen: Once again Good Morning. Sometimes Mathematics can be an intimidating

subject. A new method, however, aims to change students’ perception towards
mathematics. Surely, high school algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus
marked favourable outcomes in their selves when learned to love it. According to
our mentors, you don’t have to be good at mathematics to be able to solve math
problems. You just need good habits or even good analytical skills.

Carina: Well, for many of us, because of a lot of efforts needed to understand this
subject, students are sometimes faced with challenges which enhance their
potential and skills in solving mathematical problems. The scenario of using
formulas, listing numbers and fixing technical problems are just some of the basic
factors why most students struggle in any math problems. According to our
mentors, we must study it for us to have a better future. And now let us have the
president of mathematics club, Raymond Adriel Inductivo to give us his welcome
remarks.

Hazen: This time we will be entertained through a self-composed song about

mathematics by selected students of IV-Mabini. Let’s give them a round of
applause… Thank you IV-Mabini. We know everyone is excited for this nerve
wracking and brain teasing event.

Carina: To explain the mechanics of the contest and to introduce the contest officials,
the chair of this math skills contest. She is no other than Mrs. Teofista Tolentino…
Thank you Maam. Now we are guided by the rules of the contest. Let me call on the
third year participants. As I call your name please stand up.

Hazen: and Fourth year participants are

Carina: So the battle has ended. We know that each of you is looking forward to the
winners. But before we announce the winners, let‘s all be energized by the dance
number of the school’s very own, dance club members… Oh! That was great!

Hazen: Every participant will receive a certificate for benevolently rendering the time
and effort for this contest.

Carina: To award the certificate for the participants, may we request our guidance
counsellor, Mrs Carlota Casalme… Thank you Maam.

Hazen: Congratulations participants! And now we come to the point on revealing the
winners. To announce the winners, may we call on Mrs Lozaida Nadunza one of the
quiz masters.
Carina: Congratulations winners! Let’s call this a day and tomorrow will be another
day for the second batch of contestants. See you all! Same place, same time. Have
a nice day.
