Abstract-A compact dualband planar antenna developed

for IMT-2000 and WLAN applications is presented. The

I
compact planar antenna consists of a flared monopole with an
additional sleeve for dual band applications. The overall size of
the antenna is 40mm x 25mm x 1.6mm including the Finite
Ground CPW feeding mechanism. The measured -10dD band
L

Ir
width for returnloss is from 1.91 - 2.34 GHz and 3.21 - 5.58
GHz covering IMT-2000 and WLAN bands. Simulation results
along with measurements from the prototyped antenna are
presented.

of these antennas are multilayer designs which requires a
considerable antenna thickness and thus not suitable for
compact multiband applications. As a consequence,
miniaturization of the mobile antenna is highly demanded Fig. 1. Geometry of the proposed Dual Band monopole
