How to search Trading Stocks in Market Hours with Real Time Data in Amibroker

Most of the Amibroker Pro. Versions >= 5.0 provide support to scan real time stock data to find
buy/sell/short/cover signal for taking position to trade.

There are 100s of stocks in stock market which are in trading condition (trending) during market hours. But it
is very difficult to check each and every stock and its chart. and even if we decide to find all tradable stock by
checking each and every chart during market hours I am sure by the time we find good stock for trading the
market will close.

ETP-Main charts will help you to find and scan such tradable stocks where ETP-Main chart has given
Buy/Sell/Cover/Short Signals and as said you don’t need to check every stock chart . But note that it scans all of
the signals including false signals. Still lots of time can be saved and this work can be done automatically in
background by Amibroker when you are witching some other stock charts or when you are not on desk to
operate pc.

This is documentation is actually a part of Amibroker training but ETP user will not be able to use real strength
of ETP without using this facility therefore I am explaining this procedure in this document.. Hummm ....its
spoon feeding ..... which I really hate..... as no one has trained me so far and I have learned myself and
explored the things which I needed. So why others can not do this ? ¿ ? ¿ ? ¿
Any way ....

It is assumed that you have 1 year of intraday data for 100-200 stocks with you.
Follow the given instructions :-

1) In the AFL list of Amibroker there is ETPMain-MRT.AFL select this AFL and right click with mouse
then select Analysis from context menu A window shown as below will appear on screen to perform
Automatic Analysis.

2) Select and set all options as shown in the above given windows image.
3) Run Every : is a setting for duration of periodic scan cycle In this window image it is shown as 5mins
so ETPMain-MRT.AFL will continuously check all the last 100 Quotations prices bars after every 5
mins for all stocks unless you stop the scan process.

4) Now Click the Settings button here one more window will come on screen keep every thing similar to
settings given in the following image except Periodicity .

5) In this window Periodicity is the Setting of your chart candle time frame if you are using 5 mins
trading chart then select 5mins or for 15 mins chart candle select 15 mins. Don’t get confused as this
timing is different than Run Every setting which is set for scanning cycle duration. Just Click Ok and
close window.

6) You will come back to first window where you have to click Scan button just once. That’s all !! Now
your Amibroker will start to scan all the stocks in background and will produce list of
buy/sell/cover/short signals generated on stocks. just click stock name listed by scan. Amibroker will
automatically show chart of selected stock in background of scan window.. Here we are scanning last
100 candles with time frame of candle set by you. This means if Candle time is 15 mins then there 24
candles for 6 hours of market and Amibroker will scan previous 100 candles of 15 mins each for any
:generated signals at the time of scanning . if you start scanning at 9:30Am then there will be just 2
candles of 15 mins for the concerned day so Amibroker will also scan data of previous day(s). and will
search for signal which has continued and generated after last days movement in stock.

7) It is good idea to keep Run Every Time grater then 1 min of chart candle time and then to start scan
immediately after end of last or right most candle of chart. So if u keep 5 mins candles it will finish the
recent candle and then scanning process will include result or any signal generated on that last candle of
live data. On any chart or in scanning signals are to be considered when candle with perticular signal
ends and next candles starts. so if candle duration is 5 mins set Run Every to 6mins and make sure to
start scanning immediately after closing of recent candle.

8) Once scanning is stared keep on clicking the listed stocks by scanner in its list and then check ETP
conditions on chart that comes in back side of scanning window to take trading position. Cheek ETP
rules such as NTZ curve and position of MB etc. Re-position the scanning window and its size so that
you can view chart of selected stock which is selected from the list of scanned results. Finally when you
find tradable stock as per ETP rules to take position close the scanning process window. Resize the
column width of Date-time so signal time can be seen. Click headers of columns it will sort signals on
ascending and descending orders in aspects of column header that we click. Sorting can be done on
multiple columns such as first sort on Stock name then within sorted stocks sort signals on recent
date+time and/or type of signals. To do this press left shift-key on keyboard and click on any column
heading that you want to keep for initial sorting order then without releasing left shift-key click on
second column heading. Arrow on column header represents sorting order up arrow oldest date+time or
smallest price A to Z order for Stocks name that is ascending order and. Down arrow is for descending
order that is for all recently listed signals on recent date + time and highest price on top and Z to A is
for stock name sorting. Try and explore for complex and nested sorting of signals. Do it 50 times !!

9) Note : The time taken by scanning process depends on various factors such as strength of you pc
including memory of pc and speed of processor, all of the other applications which you are ruining at the
time of stocks scanning empty space on hard disk, the ramifications of conditions and logic that is used
for scanning by AFL, candle time, total number of stocks and total data that you select to scan . So
close all unnecessary application and windows , close software’s like WinAmp or Real Audio
Player, Web browser or unnecessary websites opened in browser to boost up speed of scanning.

10) You can see in this window that - on 5th April ALBK gave Buy/Cover signal @ 147 and then on 9th
April it gave Sell/Short Signal @ 163-162 Rs. with SL of 171-172 (now find out that where I did get
SL of 171-172 ) as per Hourly Candle scanner Now lets match ETP chart with this signal list. It can be
seen on chart that all listed signals in scanning are plotted as they were shown in list. On 31 st March
and 26th March I ignored the scanned signals due to the Rule of No co-operation of MEAN with price
after checking the chart of ETP Main.
