5. Identify one type of sexual harassment in the educational system. Discuss a theory that
explains this types of sexual harassment and why it is still a problem in our educational system.

One kind of sexual harassment that can occur in our educational system is sexual coercion that
occurs. Sexual coercion is when a teacher would threaten a punishment towards a student if they did
not give the teacher sex or some other form of sexual act. A theory that can explain why teachers would
do this is control theory. Where these teachers are put in a position of power where they have the
means to dictate a lot of power over a child. For a child teachers are taught to be respected and act as
huge adult figures in their lives. So when a teacher in these positions looked up to by children they feel
the need to exert some sexual control over the child. Lack of control in a offenders life can mean that
when they are put in a position where they have control over another person they feel they have more
control and like the sexualized aspect of the act but more importantly they enjoy the power aspect of
the act where the sexualized act is less to their pleasure and it’s more the amount of control they have
over the child. At the college level this still occurs a professor has a profound effect on your grades and
can use that position to corers un wanted acts from a pulp. This is again based on control theory where
in the offender has control over the victim or they have suffered less control in their lives outside of
work and feel as if they need somehow to gain that control back. It can be a combination of these as
well. The reason this is still a problem within the educational system is most of the time it goes un-
reported or no action is taken. At the university level there are constant headline stories of professors
who have gotten away with lewd acts for years and even though it was reported the university did not
take the appropriate action to stop them. It is also largely hard and stressful to have young children
testify against a teacher and thus lack of evidence to convict can be another problem.

4. Discuss three types of fraud committed by pharmacists and the effects on patients and the
healthcare system. Identify a theory that can be used to explain all three types of fraud and explain how
this theory works as an explanation.

One type of fraud that is committed is generic drug substitution. This is when the pharmacist
gave the customer a generic drug but billed the insurance company for a more expensive drug and thus
making more money. A second type of fraud is short counting where pharmacists dispense fewer pills
then prescribed but bill the insurance company as if they dispensed all the pills. Pharmacists can also
double bill customers where they charge two or more parties for the same prescription. These are type
of forgery’s that occur where more money is being made for the pharmacist. A theory that states why
they do this is rational choice theory. The benefits and monetary gain they can get heavily outweigh the
costs of getting caught for these frauds. Most pharmacists that get caught almost always avoid jail
unless it is an egregious case. In some cases, the pharmacist’s assistant can get charged and thus inciting
the wrong person leaving the offender to keep offending. Most convictions 95% to be correct of
pharmacists were obtain through guilty pleas or plea deals. The last factor is that forgery is extremely
hard to detect in the field of pharmacy. These types of frauds are committed because the pharmacist
assumes extremely low risk and high reward when committing pharma fraud in the form of forgery.
