AUDIENCE feedback-

short film
To gain audience feedback from our short film, we
devised a questionnaire and asked 15 people to
view the short film at the same time. There were 6
questions to the questionnaire, which included
such things as asking what genre fits best to the
film, and if our short film was successful enough,
the target audience would successfully identify it
as a rom com. Further questions were added in
addition to see what needed to be improved or
changed and what worked well, which would help
us in our evaluation.

1. Was the meaning made clear
throughout the film? Did you
understand it fully?
 This shows that the plot was
clear to understand, therefore
our target audience could
appreciate the shor t film,
making it successful
2. Which genre best
fits the film?
 From our questionnaire it is clear that the
majority of participants believed it to be a
rom com, with the comedy genre in second
place. Our idea was for a rom com but more
heavily based on the comedy side, which
shows that we were successful in
conveying the right genre. The other genres
selected were a mixture of either romantic
drama or documentary-comedy, in a way the
short film fits all categories.
3. Was the camera work, style and
editing suitable for this film genre?
100% said yes. Specific feed back was;
“The shots of him looking at the camera was
effective.”
“Interview scene was effective, very catchy”
“subtle editing, liked the labels underneath the
photos”
“smooth editing”
“subtleness of the waitress in the background of
each date”
4. Have you seen any other films
of a similar genre?

“not really, no, good idea!”

“yes, but not a lot which good”
There were a mixture of answers to this question,
but the fact people said it was innovative, makes
our film effective as its not a common type of
media short.

Editing
 From our audience research it is
clear that we have done a good first
attempt of our shor t film, as the
genre is clear, the plot is easy to
understand and there have been a
lot of positive comments to add.
However to improve in the areas
suggested, we will go back to our
film and sor t out the sound levels
and smooth the editing so that the
film answers the criticisms of the
target audience. Following this our
film should be finished.
