Motivational Activity: Each picture symbolizes a type of religion. Identify a religion that
each picture tries to depict. Write a brief explanation on why you identified that religion
with one of the given pictures.

Islam

Procedure: Illustrate or draw the Geo-cultural map of the Arabian Peninsula/Label the
significant places that account to the origin of the known major world religions.
Questions:
1. Describe the physical and geographical characteristics of the Arabian peninsula.
 The arabian peninsula contain deserts dotted with oases. Plains that line
the southern and western coasts are the Coastal Plains, and the Mountain
Ranges divide these coastal plains from the deserts.
2. Identify which world religions originated from the Arabian peninsula.
 Islam originated in the Arabian Peninsula
3. How is religion affected by geography and culture?
 Before when airplanes are non-existent, people can only travel by horses
or boats. Landforms like mountain ranges can be a hindrance in travelling
so people tend to go the other way. This was done by the pioneers of
religion and missionaries who wish to travel to gather believers.
