QUIZ 1
1. Define Ethics .

Ethics is a discipline of studying and ideals of human behavior; it could be

acceptable or unacceptable depending on a particular field. Ethics could be aesthetically
wrong but legally correct. For example, a police man is tasked to provide security and
peace in their own practices but if that practice has crossed beyond the line you harm
someone, it would be unethical.

2. What is the difference between ethics and morals?

Ethics and morals; two things that are hard to decipher some might say that they are
just the same but they have their distinction. According to Bulaong, et al. (2017), morals
may be used to refer to specific or attitudes that people have to describe acts that people
perform while ethics is the discipline of studying and understanding the ideal of human
behavior and ideal ways of thinking. It differs to the point that ethics is legally and
professionally based idealism while morals are belief-based. For example, the word “Code
of Ethics” is prominent in the professional aspects; it is the ideal way on how to act as a
person practicing a certain profession.

3. Differentiate ethics from aesthetics, etiquette, and technique.

Ethics is different from the aesthetics because aesthetics only involves feeling,
sense, taste and subjective apprehension to a particular thing. Example, some might say
that old songs are bad but for me, it is not. Etiquette is somewhat a proper way to act as a a
human being a it depends to a certain culture. In Korea, they have the same culture
idealism and that is, we need to respect people older than us and they have that etiquette
while drinking with older people. The proper handling of wine glass, the way of talking and
such and if you failed to do that, it would be disrespectful. Last is the practice it is different
also, it might have not involve feelings but it involves the proper way of performing such
thing. For example, bed making has certain steps which includes mitering the corner,
tucking, and pan folding and if you failed to perform that the outcome would be the other
way around.

Activity 2: Analyzing Case

Last June 11, 2020, the Lucban Municipal Police Station (LMPS) posted on their

Analyze this case. Is this an ethical problem? There are conflicting thoughts on the post of
LMPS. Are clothes just a matter of aesthetic? Or can clothes become an ethical problem?
Explain your answers. Explain it on 7 to 10 sentences

This is an ethical problem because with regards to the LMPS’s side because they
tend to insult women with regards to wearing blunt clothes. It may seem inappropriate to
police’s side to speak like that, they are known to promote, peace, security and human
rights but it turned out to be the other way around. Some have misinterpreted what has
been on the post but it is clearly threatening especially to the girls to degrade their trust to
LMPS. There would be a vivid argument with regards to cloth as a matter of aesthetics but
it differs on what aspect of our life it is. Majority, it could be aesthetic because of the taste
and sense of fashion but it could be inappropriate on what occasion and how you present
yourself . It could be an ethical problem if you don’t wear a particular dress code required
in an any institution. Example, you are required to wear uniform in school but you opted to
wear mini skirt and corset to instead.
