Channel Configuration
Channel Configuration

NOTE RTP encapsulation is not supported on AmiNET STBs. The AmiNET STB
cannot decode streams encoded with RTP encapsulation. Make sure the relevant
encoder streams have the Encapsulation setting configured to UDP.

Specifying Multicast Streams

For Multicast streams (streams with a Destination IP address in the range 224.0.0.0 to
239.255.255.255), enter the following on the channel’s edit box:
igmp://<Destination IP address>:<Destination Port>
For example, igmp://225.168.1.88:50688 will decode an encoder multicast stream at desti-
nation IP address 225.168.1.88 and destination port 50688.

Specifying a URL
To set the AmiNET STB to display a URL/web page, simply enter the URL into the
channel’s edit box.

NOTE You can set an AmiNET STB to decode/view an encoder stream or any URL
without configuring the channels simply by typing the appropriate string in the URL
edit box at the top of each AmiNET STB web page and pressing Return/Enter.

Auto-Resume (optional)
Channel Configuration

Auto-Resume (optional)

To configure the AmiNET STB to automatically refresh video after a loss of power or
network communication, follow these steps:

To auto-resume a Multicast Stream:

1. Open the Video Setup page. (See “Video Setup” on page 15)

2. Change “No IGMP event timeout” and “IGMP End of media event timeout” to 0
(zero).
3. Open the Browser Setup page. (See “Browser Setup (optional)” on page 13)
4. In the “Home Page” field, enter a text string describing the channel to be used during
auto resume.
The format of the text string is the same as that used during Channel Configuration
(Example: igmp://225.168.1.88:50688, see “Specifying Multicast Streams” on
page 18).

Guide to Configuring the Amino STB, V1.0, Issue 01 19

hai vision
systems inc.
Auto-Resume (optional)
Channel Configuration

To auto-resume a Unicast Stream:

To auto-resume a Unicast stream, the STB must be configured to “think” it is receiving a
multicast stream. To do this, you need to alter the channel configuration text string to look
like a multicast configuration.
1. Open the Channels page. (See “Channel Configuration” on page 16)
2. Select Edit Channel Range.
3. Instead of using the Unicast text string (Ex: UDP://:<Destination Port>), use the
multicast text string (IGMP://<Destination IP Address:<Destination Port>). (See
“Specifying Multicast Streams” on page 18)
In this text string, the Destination IP Address will be a false address to trick the STB
into thinking it is receiving a multicast transmission. You can use any multicast address
here. The port number, however, has to match the Destination Port number configured
on the source encoder. The Destination IP Address configured on the encoder should
remain unchanged.
4. Once the above three steps are completed, follow the four steps given in the “To auto-
resume a Multicast Stream:” section directly above.
Note: Make sure to save all changes with the correct Password (snake by default).

TIP To verify auto-resume, remove the Ethernet cable from the STB while running
video, and then plug it back in to see if the video comes up automatically.

The AmiNET STB is now configured to receive and decode encoder streams.
You can use the AmiNET STB remote control to change to the configured channels and
start viewing. For instructions, refer to the Amino AmiNET Installation Guide.
