Initializing Drives

If you have installed a hard drive in the LinkStation but it doesn’t boot properly, remove the drive from
the LinkStation and follow the procedure below to initialize the drive.
1. Shut down the Windows computer and connect the drive with a USB-SATA converter (sold
separately).
2. Restart the computer.
3. Open the command prompt. Choose one of the following operations depending on your
computer’s OS.
Windows 8: Press the “Windows” + “R” key to open the “Run” box or enter “cmd” directly.
Windows 7 or Windows Vista: Click the Start button, then type “cmd” in the “Search” box.
Windows XP: Click Start - Run, then type “cmd” in the “Run” box.
4. Type “diskpart” at the command prompt and press the enter key. The diskpart console will be
displayed.

5. Type “list disk” and press the enter key. Select the drive that is connected to the computer in a list.
Remember the drive number.

6. Type “select disk x”, where “x” is the drive number from the previous step, and press the enter key.

7. Type “clean” and press the enter key. The selected drive will be initialized.

8. Type “exit” and close the command prompt.

9. Shut down the computer and disconnect the drive.

The drive is now initialized. Reinstall it in the LinkStation. Refer to the LinkStation’s Quick Setup Guide
for initial setup procedure.

Festplatten initialisieren
Wenn Sie eine Festplatte in die LinkStation eingebaut haben und diese nun
nicht mehr richtig hochgefahren werden kann, so entfernen Sie das Laufwerk
aus der LinkStation und führen Sie die folgenden Schritte durch, um es zu
initialisieren:
1. Fahren Sie den Windows-Computer herunter und schließen Sie das
Laufwerk mithilfe eines USB-SATA-Konverters an. Solche Konverter
können separat erworben werden.
2. Starten Sie den Computer neu.
3. Starten Sie eine Eingabeaufforderung. Gehen Sie dazu wie folgt vor,
abhängig von Ihrem Betriebssystem:
Windows 8: Halten Sie die Windows-Taste gedrückt und drücken Sie „R“,
um das Feld „Ausführen“ zu öffnen, oder geben direkt „cmd“ ein.
Windows 7 oder Windows Vista: Klicken Sie auf „Start“ und geben Sie
„cmd“ in das Suchfeld ein.
Windows XP: Klicken Sie auf „Start“, wählen Sie „Ausführen“ und geben
Sie „cmd“ in das Suchfeld ein.
4. Geben Sie „diskpart“ in die Eingabeaufforderung ein und drücken Sie die
Eingabetaste. Ihnen sollte nun die diskpart-Konsole angezeigt werden.
5. Geben Sie „list disk“ ein und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste. Wählen Sie in
der Liste das Laufwerk aus, das Sie an den Computer angeschlossen
haben. Merken Sie sich die Laufwerknummer.
6. Geben Sie „select disk x“ ein, wobei „x“ die Laufwerknummer aus dem
vorherigen Schritt ist. Drücken Sie anschließend die Eingabetaste.
7. Geben Sie „clean“ ein und drücken Sie die Eingabetaste. Das
ausgewählte Laufwerk wird nun initialisiert.
8. Geben Sie „exit“ ein und schließen Sie damit die Eingabeaufforderung.
9. Fahren Sie den Computer herunter und schließen Sie das Laufwerk ab.
Das Laufwerk ist nun initialisiert. Bauen Sie es nun wieder in die LinkStation

Inizializzazione Dischi
Se in seguito all' installazione di un hard disk la LinkStation non si
avvia correttamente, rimuovere il disco interno dalla LinkStation e
attenersi alla seguente procedura per inizializzare l'unità.
1. Spegnere il computer Windows e collegare l'unità ad un
convertitore USB-SATA (venduto a parte).
2. Riavviare il computer.
3. Aprire il prompt dei comandi. Scegliere una delle operazioni
seguenti, in base al sistema operativo del computer.
Windows 8: Premere il tasto "Windows" + "R" per aprire la casella
"Esegui", oppure digitare direttamente "cmd".
Windows 7 o Windows Vista: cliccare su start, quindi digitare
"cmd" nella casella "Cerca".
Windows XP: cliccare su start - Esegui, quindi digitare "cmd"
nella casella "Esegui".
4. Digitare "diskpart" nel prompt dei comandi e premere Invio. La
console diskpart sarà visualizzata.
5. Digitare "list disk" e premere Invio. Selezionare l'unità collegata al
computer in un elenco. Ricordare il numero dell'unità.
6. Digitare "select disk x", dove "x" è il numero dell'unità
memorizzato nel passaggio precedente. Quindi premere Invio.
7. Digitare "clean" e premere Invio. L'unità selezionata sarà
inizializzata.
8. Digitare "exit" e chiudere il prompt dei comandi.
9. Spegnere il computer e scollegare l'unità.
L'unità è ora inizializzata. Reinstallarla sulla LinkStation. Far
riferimento alla Quick Setup Guide di LinkStation per la procedura
iniziale d'installazione.

Disques Initialisation
Si vous avez installé un disque dur dans la LinkStation mais que cette
dernière ne démarre pas correctement, retirez le disque de la LinkStation
et suivez la procédure ci-dessous pour réinitialiser le disque.
1. Éteignez l'ordinateur Windows et connectez le disque à l'ordinateur
via un convertisseur USB-SATA (vendu séparément).
2. Redémarrez l'ordinateur.
3. Ouvrez l'invite de commande. Choisissez l'une des opérations
suivantes en fonction du système d'exploitation de l'ordinateur.
Windows 8: Appuyez sur la touche « Windows » + « R » pour ouvrir
la fenêtre « Exécuter » ou entrez « cmd » directement.
Windows 7 ou Windows Vista: Cliquez sur Démarrer, puis entrez « 
cmd » dans la case « Recherche ».
Windows XP: Cliquez sur Démarrer - Exécuter, puis entrez « cmd »
dans la case « Exécuter ».
4. Entrez « diskpart » dans l'invite de commande et appuyez sur la
touche Entrée. La console de la section du disque s'affiche.
5. Entrez « list disk » et appuyez sur la touche Entrée. Sélectionnez le
disque connecté à l'ordinateur dans une liste. Retenez le numéro de
disque.
6. Entrez « select disk x », « x » étant le disque de l'étape précédente,
puis appuyez sur la touche Entrée.
7. Entrez « clean » et appuyez sur la touche Entrée. Le disque
sélectionné sera réinitialisé.
8. Entrez « exit » et fermez l'invite de commande.
9. Éteignez l'ordinateur et déconnectez le disque.
Le disque est maintenant réinitialisé. Réinstallez-le dans la LinkStation.

Si ha instalado un disco duro en LinkStation, pero no arranca
correctamente, extraiga la unidad de LinkStation y siga el procedimiento
que se explica a continuación para inicializarla.
1. Apague el equipo Windows y conecte la unidad con un convertidor
USB-SATA (se vende por separado).
2. Reinicie el equipo.
3. Abra el símbolo del sistema. Elija una de las siguientes operaciones
en función del SO del equipo.
Windows 8: Pulse la combinación de teclas “Windows” + “R” para
abrir el cuadro “Ejecutar” o introduzca “cmd” directamente.
Windows 7 o Windows Vista: Haga clic en el botón Inicio y, a
continuación, introduzca “cmd” en el cuadro de búsqueda.
Windows XP: Haga clic en Inicio - Ejecutar y, a continuación,
