Ashburn woman receives trial date for fraud scheme

Ashburn woman Diane H. Frederick Atari appeared before Judge

James H. Chamblin on March 11 for her trial date to be determined.
Atari obtained a lawyer, Steve Webster, since her last court date on Feb.
22. Atari is charged with 10 counts of mortgage fraud and one count
each of racketeering and money laundering.

Atari entered the court room, smiling at her mother, next to her lawyer,
with her hair curly and down.

Atari is accused of fixing her clients’ credit and inflating their incomes
to qualify them for homes they couldn’t afford. Atari’s scheme is said to
D iane H . Frederic k A tari have obtained losses of more than $50 million in mortgages. She is also
alleged of obtaining $1 million, personally, from the scheme.

Commonwealth’s Attorney, Gigi Lawless, and Webster reached a trial date to start on Oct. 11 at
9 a.m. Defendants asked for a two-week trial by jury.

“This case is pretty document intensive,” Lawless said, as both her and defendant asked for
enough time to prepare for the trial.

At this time, Atari’s attorney has requested she remain at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Most Popular in News
