Assumption: Students will be able to use English in a fluent and effective way
Anticipated Problems: The students may have difficulty in finding and using suitable English
phrases and expressions while acting out the roles written on the role cards

OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the students

1) will have improved their speaking skills in intermediate degree.

2) will have practiced English in a fluent and effective way

3) will have learnt new English expressions and phrases

4)will have developed their skills of cooperation and communication

PRE-SPEAKING

Time: 3 min.
Materials: Key words written on the cards
Interaction: T/Ss-Ss/Ss
What the students do : The students are asked to look at the key words written on the board
and to write a dialogue by using these words in pairs
Grouping : Pair work
Aims:

- To motivate the students to get to the topic


- To introduce the topic to the class
- To write a conversation
- To develop cooperation skills
- To brainstorm about the topic

STEPS
1) The teacher asks the students to have a look at the key words written on the board
2) The teacher asks them to write a dialogue in pairs by using these key words
3) Some of them read their dialogues aloud to the whole class

WHILE SPEAKING
Time: 9 min.
Materials: Role Cards
Interaction: T/Ss-Ss/Ss
What the students do : The students are given out some role cards and they act out the roles
Grouping: Pair work

Aims:
- To use English in a fluent and effective way
- To improve speaking skills
- To develop cooperation and communication skills

STEPS
1) The teacher hands out some role cards to the students and they read them
2) Before the performances, the teacher teaches them some useful English phrases and
expressions they can use during the activity by leading some questions
3) The teacher writes these expressions on the board and asks them to act out the roles written
on the cards
4) They act out the roles by using the phrases and expressions written on the board
5) In the end of the activity, the teacher corrects the mistakes they make

POST SPEAKING

Time: 4 min.
Materials: Papers
Interaction: Ss/Ss
What the students do: The students prepare an invitation card for a birthday party
Grouping: groups of four students

Aims:
- To improve their writing skills by preparing an invitation
- To practice what they have learnt

STEPS
1) The teacher asks the students to get into groups of four
2) The teacher asks the students to prepare an invitation card for a birthday party
