DESCRIPTION
The Model 8-0812 light Panel Accessory fits the
short frame, vertical shaft, and Lawn Ranger Model
1-8745.
FOR SHORT FRAME AND VERTICAL SHAFT TRAC-

ASSEMBLY
1. IMPORTANT: Disconnect the battery ground
cable from the battery. This will prevent hot sparks
and shorts.

2. On the short frame models the fuel tank must
be moved to expose the rear of the dash panel.
A. Loosen screw on the tank strap.
B. Slide the tank forward and to the right side
of the tractor.

3. Remove the plastic plug button in the switch
hole by hitting the plastic stems off with a screw-
driver tip.
4. Connect the red wire of the light harness and
the red tail light wire to the center terminal of the
switch. The fused wire on the harness is connected
to the side terminal. (See Fig. 1 and Wiring Diagrams.)
5. String wires through the switch hole and down
through the rubber grommet. (See Fig. 2.)

6. The green fused wire is connected to the bat-
tery positive terminal.
7. The hood escutcheon plate can be removed by
breaking off the stems with a screwdriver tip. Install
the two Ya rivets through the hood and reflector hous-
ing. The rivets are held in place with the push-on
nuts, the slotted end of the nut goes on the rivet first,
see Fig. 4 and the Exploded View DrawilJg.
 10. String the red wire of the harness forward
under the left side of the engine and along the left
side of the hood. Connect the wire leads to the con-
nector as shown in Fig. 6. Fasten the wire to the
hood with the clips provided. Any excess wire can
be looped and taped to the inside of the hood.
11. Mount tail light base to the rear of the fender
as shown in Fig. 7.
12. String the red tail light wire down inside the
hoodstand (stay behind lift arm shaft) and back in-
side the tool box. Connect the black tail light wire
to the red lead from the switch with the connector as
shown in Fig. 8.
13. Mount fuel tank back in position. Connect

battery ground cable, and try lights. If lights fail to
come on - check wiring - see diagrams. The ground
for the lights is transmitted through the hood latch
rod; therefore, the lights may go out when the hood
is up.

8. Insert the socket wires, springs, and bulbs as
shown in Fig. 4.
9. Mount the lens to the opening and fasten with
the four machine screws as shown in Fig. 5.

ASSEMBLY
1. IMPORTANT: Disconnect the battery ground
cable from the battery. This will prevent hot sparks
and shorts.
2. Drill holes in the rear of seat pan. (See Fig. 1.)
Drill three ~2 Dia. holes at the locations shown.

 3. Mount the tail light to the seat pan with the
# 10 screws, lockwashers, and nuts as shown in Fig.
2. The 6" black ground wire fits under the nut of
screw marked "A" to under the nut of screw marked
"8". (See Fig. 2.)

4. Insert the wires, springs, and bulbs in the re-
flector housing. Using the four #6-32 screws mount the
lens and the reflector housing to the grill as shown in
Fig. 3. Slip one end of the 13)1" black ground wire
under the lip of the housing and connect the other
end to one of the grill hinge bolts as shown. Attach
the double connector to the black lead wires from the
housing.

5. Connect the fused green wire of the harness
to the positive terminal of the battery. (See Fig. 4.)

Run the red wire forward and under the wire clip
provided on the engine as shown. Connect this wire
to the connector, and fasten it to the side of the grill
with the wire clips. (See Fig 4.)

Slip the two remaining ends of the wire harness
through the hole at the base of the battery into the
dash area.
6. Use a screwdriver to pry off the plug button
covering the switch opening. (See Fig. 5.)
Pull the wire leads of the harness through the
opening.

Connect the loose red tail light wire to the tail-
light with the connector provided. Run the wire un-
der the seat pan to the dash area and up through
the switch opening. Cut off the excess length of the
tail light wire to allow about 5" through the open-
ing. Skin the end of the wire and fasten the spade
terminal provided.
Connect the two red leads to the center terminal
of the switch and the green to the end terminal as
shown.
7. Install the switch into the opening. Reconnect
the battery ground cable and try the switch, it may
have to be pulled out and rotated to correspond to
the off and on position marked on the dash.
