Welcome and thank you for choosing DigiVue's EDV-DVRSTK Digital Surveillance System: The perf
security solution for home, office and/or other locations.

You can monitor and record live video locally and also view and record the cameras remotely. While
motion detection mode, intruders or any suspicious events will be recorded in digital video.

Please read through the topics within this Help File before calling our technical support line. The
representatives at our technical support location are knowledgeable about our products and can offe
those with technical difficulties. If you are unfamiliar with Windows, you should have someone wi
when you call our support line.

Note: You can skip to any specific topic you wish to know more about by opening each chapter and
sub-chapter titles. You may also type in a keyword into the search box for specific features.
TIP: Add quotation marks around a specific feature for better search results, i.e. "Auto Log Off".

Below you will see a picture of the four different types of DVR sticks. You can identify your specifi
hardware by verifying the the color of the plastic within the USB plug-in, the color of the USB stick
led light you have when inserted into your computer. You should know your model when calling f
technical support to better help the technical support representative.

Please make sure your computer is compatible by confirming it meets the following
requirements:

Before beginning the installation process, identify your specific model of the DVR-
STK. Visit our Introduction page to determine your product.
Note: You should know your model when calling for technical support.

Important: Please make sure the DigiVue CD is in your CD-Rom drive before
installing any USB device.

Step 1: Plug your USB device into the USB slot.

Step 2: Click 'Next' as shown below.

You must complete this registration process in order for your DigiVue DVR stick to
work properly. The following must take place after installation and before you
intend to use this product.

Step 1: Click on 'Start", "All Programs", and select DigiVue 'Register' as


shown in Image 1.

TIP: Your serial number is the twenty character code located on the cd envelope that
your DigiVue came in. Some may say "license number" in place of serial number. This
code must be entered in capital letters.

Click the button as shown below to open the 'Setup' menu.


In your Setup Menu, you will be able to choose different tabs that will provide
instructions for the setup of your DigiVue system.

This section will explain how and where you can store your video footage. You can
choose which drive letter to record to and designate your desired amount of space
to it.

Step 1: Click the 'Edit' button shown in the Disk Manager section.

In your Setup Menu, please choose the 'General' Tab.

Setting up a detailed recording schedule is an easy task with our software. The week is broken down
into half-hour periods. The color of the box represents the function of one specific camera or of all
cameras.

File Length:
When in continuous record mode, this determines the length of each video file before it closes and
opens a new AVI file.

To set up your Record Schedule, follow the steps below:

Step1: Choose 'Edit' in the 'Record Schedule' section.

Step2: Highlight individual boxes based on the time and day of the week, then choose the manner in
which you wish to record.

In your Setup Menu, please choose the 'General' Tab.

Auto Flip:
When in full screen mode you can sequence through your cameras by selecting
the dwell time per picture. Note: The default is set to zero seconds. When set to
zero, 'Auto Flip' option is off.

Auto Log Off:


Checking this box will cause the current user to be logged of after 5 minutes of
inactivity.

Auto Login:
Upon opening the program, the user will not be prompted for a username and
password. Instead it will log in the last user's settings.

You can select color schemes for your text and background colors within each
camera pane. To name each individual camera, see Caption in the Camera Tab.

Show Camera Caption:


Choose this option for a constant view of your camera caption.

Back Color:
This is your background color behind the text in your camera caption.

Text Color:
This is the color of the text displayed in your camera caption.

Focus Color:
This is the highlighted color of your camera caption to indicate you have
selected that camera.

In your Setup Menu, please choose the 'General' Tab.

This feature allows you to import a map of the covered areas by cameras. This area will then be shown
as a blueprint on this screen.

E-Map: Putting a check in this box will cause a map to pop up when an I/O alarm is triggered.

There is a default map there which you can change by clicking the "Import Map" button (Image 2). The
imported image must either be a jpeg or bmp.

This section explains how to allocate cameras per card. It also allows you to change
quality settings.

Card NO:
This will always be set to one.

Set # of Cams:
When using a camera, select one for this setting. If you are using a quad
processor, this setting should be set to four.

Video Mode:
Select either NTSC or PAL based on the output of your cameras.

Video Size:
Choose the desired quality of live/recorded footage.

ALL:
Applies above settings to all cards (chips) in system.

Board Clip X/Y:


Adjusts the alignment of the picture (left to right; up and down) within each
camera's view.

You can change the text used to describe each camera feed.

Example: If you have a camera in the front of your business, you can name that
camera by its location, such as "ENTRANCE". Simply type the name into the
'Caption' box.

In your Setup Menu, please choose the 'Camera Tab'.

The PTZ controls can control multiple PTZ cameras, however, you must link each
camera to its corresponding PTZ address.

Step 1: In the left hand column named 'Camera', select the camera number/name (if you
have renamed the camera).

Step 2: Choose the corresponding PTZ number in the 'Attach PTZ ID' drop down menu
on the right.

Step 3: Click 'OK'

In your Setup Menu, please choose the 'Camera Tab'.

To create your own motion zones, click Custom Motion Zones.

Prerecord:
This box is for motion detected recording only. If you check this box, the DigiVue keeps
a buffer of video in memory and will save this buffer when motion is detected. It is like
having the recording start a few seconds before the motion is detected.

Frame Flash:
Check this box only if you want the motion zones to blink when they are triggered.

OSD:
When checked, this option puts a time and date stamp on the saved video file. (red or
green in color)

Delay Time:
Setting the delay time sets the recording time for a motion recording duration after
Motion Detection or I/O Alarm trigger stops. The default time is 10 seconds; therefore it
will continue to record for only 10 seconds after motion has stopped. If motion
continues, the recording continues. If motion stops, recording will continue for the
allotted time you have instructed.

Auto Video Out Interval:


The yellow RCA jack on your card is a spot monitor output. The changeable field
indicates how long you want a camera to show before switching to the next camera.

In your Setup Menu, please choose the 'Local User' tab.

There is an administrative username that works as a master username. The default


master username is "admin" and the default master password is "1234".

Administrator:
This is a default password which should be changed and saved somewhere in the
event that you get locked out of the software. The username will always remain and
cannot be changed.
Default User Name: admin
Default Password: 1234

Username/Password:
While logged in as the master username, you can create multiple users and provide
each with its own password. After creating a new username you can customize that
user's rights within the DigiVue program. For more information on this see User
Rights.

TIP: You can not create a username, "admin" for a separate user other than the master

User Rights:
Select a user; you can modify the user rights by removing the check from
corresponding box.

Deselect to Hide Camera:


If you deselect the user's camera number, the corresponding video will not show on
split screen. Also, the camera schedule and status will not change. When this user is
logged in, he/she will not be able to view the hidden camera's live feed or use the
playback options.

Set screen unlock password. Default password is: 1234

COM Port:
Choose the communication port that your RS232 to RS485 adapter will be using.
RS485 adapter connects to your PTZ decoder.

PTZ Decoder:
Choose the model or brand of your decoder from the drop down menu.

Baud:
Select the baud rate your PTZ uses.
TIP: The Baud rate in Device Manager is defaulted to 9600. You must manually change
it to match the Baud rate in PTZ Decoder.

Enable Sequence Run:


This option will run a previously set sequence. (See Speed Dome Control)

Note: If a sequence is running when DigiVue is closed, it will automatically resume


when the program is opened again providing this box is checked.

On the Main DigiVue screen, click button to open Speed Dome Control Panel
shown below in Image 1.

Step 1: In the "Protocol" field, please choose the speed dome model from the
drop down menu.

Step 2: In the "Com" field, choose the communication port that your RS232
to RS485 adapter will be using. RS485 adapter should connect to your speed
dome.

Step 3: In the "Addr ID" field, choose the speed dome ID from the drop
down menu or just click the split screens to get corresponding ID.

Step 4: In the "Speed" field choose the running speed of your Speed Dome,
High, Middle, or Low.

In the Dome Console box, click 'Preset' for the following options:

Step 1: Choose a preset number in the "Preset Choose" drop down menu.

Step 2: Click "Preset Name" to define Preset name.

Step 1: Click "Sequence Set" to set up a sequence. A small window will open,
choose 'Set'.

In the 'Playback' screen, follow the following steps to take a picture and print your files:

Step 1: Locate date, time, and camera number as explained in Video Playback.

Step 2: When you reach the point of the video you would like a still picture of, press
pause.

Step 3: Press the 'Snap' button located on the right toolbar of the playback menu.
Note: The picture must freeze for a few seconds.

5 Remote Viewing

There are two ways to view your cameras remotely: Internet Explorer or our Client
software.

While using Internet Explorer you will be able to monitor your camera footage live
as well as control PTZ. Internet Explorer should primarily be used either when you
are on a computer that does not have the client software installed or uses an older
Operating System such as Windows 98. (Our client software is supported by
Windows 2000, XP and Vista)

While using our client software you will be able to monitor live, review, record
remotely, and connect to multiple host machines at the same time.

TIP: You will need to follow certain steps before you can remote view. Please read
through all three of the following chapters for instructions. If your computer is on a
router, see Set-Up on Host Machine. If your computer is not on a router, see Your IP
Address in the set-up part of this chapter. Once you have done either of those two steps
you may proceed to either, Internet Explorer or Client Software to view when you are at
a remote location.

If your host computer is on a network (uses a router), you must do the following
by calling your Internet Service Provider or router manufacturer before you will
successfully be able to Remotely View:
• Set the computer as DMZ
• Forward the following ports:
o 6699
o 2000

you will need to forward the above ports and 2200, 2201, 2202 and 2203
You will not be able to view your cameras remotely unless either DMZ or port
forwarding is complete.

Find your IP address by going to . This is the number you will need if you are
outside the network of the computer from where the DigiVue and cameras are
located.

TIP: If you are trying to view your cameras from within the network you will use the
local IP address usually beginning with 192 or 10.

Note: We do not support third party routers. However, most router manufacturers
have a toll free number you can call for help with the above issues. Setting a DMZ
or setting Port Forwarding is usually an easy task. Our technicians are not
authorized to walk you through this. Please contact your Internet Service Provider
or router manufacturer first before contacting our technical support.

Please be aware that some Internet Service Providers are now building routers into
their modems. If you are getting an IP Address for the computer with the DigiVue
card inside, that begins with 192, (see our Legend, number 23) and you believe you
do not have a router, please call your ISP and have them help you with the Port
Forwarding or DMZ.

When using Internet Explorer to remotely view your cameras, follow the following steps:

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer on the remote machine and clear the URL address bar.
Step 2: Type "http://(the IP address):6699 and click Enter. You will be brought to the 'Log-In'
screen.
Step 3: The first time you use this on a remote machine, you will need to install support files
that will allow you to view. Click the red "Click Here" link located in the middle of the page as
shown in Image 1 and install the files.

Step 4: The default username and password is 'DVR' for both. Unless you have changed this in
the Setup Menu on your host computer, the username and password will be 'DVR' for both
fields.
Step 5: Select the cameras individually by clicking on the numbers at the bottom of the page to
specific to the camera you wish to view.

Step 1: To playback footage, click the playback button and view the recorded files from the
host machine.

Step 2: In the 'Host' drop down menu, choose the IP address for the computer you wish to view
recorded files.

Step 3: Select the date from which the video was recorded.

Step 4: In the 'Channel' field, choose the camera number you wish to view.

Step 5: Click Search. If the files are available, the file names will show in the drop down menu for
'File List'.

through the topics below before calling our technical support line. The
representatives at our technical support location are knowledgeable about our
products and can offer help to those with technical difficulties. If you are unfamiliar
with Windows, you should attempt to have someone with you when you call our
support line.

1. The DigiVue software shuts down after a certain amount of time.

2. DigiVue disappears after "Check Disk" message.

3. When I am trying to remotely view using Internet Explorer I get "Log-Off"


where it should read "Log-In".

4. When I am trying to remotely view using the Client software I get "Log-In
Timeout" where it should read "Log-In".

Step 4: Place a check in the box next to the "DigiVue" and "http" choices.

The cd that comes with the purchase of your DigiVue USB stick will have a version
of the software necessary for the stick to run properly. If for any reason you have
downloaded a different version this will cause this result. Verify that you are
installing the correct DVR software.

3. When I am trying to remotely view using Internet Explorer I get


"Log Off" where it should read "Log-In".

"Log-Off' will appear when the log in information you enter differs from what is
stored on your server computer. If the username or password has been changed
from the default 'dvr' in both fields, you must use the new username and/or
password stored.

4. When I am trying to remotely view using the Client software I get


"Log In Timeout " where it should read "Log-In".

A. If you have a router, the port forwarding may not have been done. If port
forwarding was done, it may not have been done correctly. Please verify the ports
you forwarded in the Remote Viewing chapter. Also, make sure you have
forwarded those ports to the correct local ip address of the host computer.

B. There may be a firewall on your host computer blocking incoming connections.
