NOTICE

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING PROJECT AND SEMINAR REPORTS

ATTN : Final Year MCA and BE (CSE / IT) students.


All the students are required to follow guidelines regarding report writing of project
and seminar work.

1. Two (one for departmental library and other for guide’s copy if guide requires)
hard bounded copies for Seminar and Project Reports must be submitted in
the department two days before the date of examination.
2. Monogram of JNVU is MUST. Monogram of MBM is Optional.
3. Presentations for Seminar and Project shall be prepared for Approx10 minutes
each using power point.
4. Common Format for Seminar and Project Report
Approx Size of Seminar Report : 30 to 50 Pages
Approx Size of Project Report : 45 to 70 Pages
Header: Chapter Name //Top Right
Footer : Title of project/ seminar// Bottom Left
Page number // Bottom Right
Font Type : Arial
Font Size : 12 (Running Matter ) , 13, 14, .. for upper Headings
// consistent throughout
Spacing : 1.5 (Running Matter)
Heading and Subheading must be in standard format and BOLD
i.e. 1, 1.1, 1.1.1 etc
5. Guide lines for seminar report
a. Contents of seminar report must of between 30 to 45 pages.
b. Seminar report must content followings
• Cover page (as per specification)
• Undertaking by student declaring that the matter of seminar
is not ‘reproduced as it is’ from any source as per given
format.
• Certificate by the guide as per given format
• Table of Contents // Page Number is Must
• Abstract
• Introduction
• Two / Three topic related chapters
• Summary
• References
// Mention citation within the text to refer
// web sites must have complete URL and the date of access
• Bibliography
6. Guidelines for Project report
a. Contents of Project report must of between 45 to 60 pages.
b. Project report must content followings
• Cover page (as per specification)
• Undertaking by student declaring that the project and/or
report is not ‘reproduced as it is’ from any source.
• Xerox of certificate by organization (where the project actually
performed) // Applicable to MCA 6sem if training is taken outside
• Certificate by the guide
• Company profile // (Not more than two pages) [MCA 6sem ]
• Table of contents // Page number is must
• Abstract // Half page of two paragraphs
• Introduction (including block diagram of system)
• Topic related chapters (Using SDLC/OOSE as applicable)
Request for proposal (Problem Statement)// Sufficient enough to
test feasibility and estimate efforts
Feasibility study and reports
Analysis and SRS
High Level Design
Detailed Design
Database Design
// E-R Diagram, including every relation name and
type ;
//Data Structures including Purpose of every field
Logic Design
// Flow chart ; any special Logic including format of
bit-pattern used for some status/control purpose
User Interface Design
// The choices provided to users shall be organized in
a tree structure to explain the classification and menu
hierarchy.
// State Diagram to document behavior of event
driven menu.
Coding Standards ( Followed )
//Mention actual files and their contents like module name and

CD containing codes and executables must be submitted with each copy of


report duly pasted in an envelop at the end of report

7. Project examination may have presentation, demonstration and viva.


8. Seminar examination will have presentation and viva (interaction).
