Part I: The Interview

Ask your partner the answers to the following questions. Additionally, make up 3
questions of your own to ask at the end. It is best if you ask your partner to elaborate on
their answers. A simple “yes” or “no” may not give you enough information to help you
through the other parts of this project.

1. When and where were you born? How old are you? Who, if anyone, are you
named after?
2. What is your earliest memory?
3. Who are the other people in your family?
4. Which member of your family are you most like? Why? How?
5. In what places have you lived?
6. What schools have you attended?
7. What is your father’s occupation?
8. What is your mother’s occupation?
9. Who is your best friend? Tell about him or her.
10. What books and magazines do you like to read?
11. What person has had the most influence on you? How?
12. Describe your hobbies.
13. Describe your pets.
14. Describe what you like to do in your spare time and on weekends.
15. What is your favorite TV program? Why?
16. What kind of music do you like?
17. What is the most wonderful thing that ever happened to you?
18. What is the worst thing that ever happened to you?
19. What is the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?
20. Where have you traveled? What interesting places have you seen?
21. Do you have a boyfriend? Girlfriend? Anybody special? Describe this special
person.
22. Describe your particular talents. What do you do well?
23. Do you want to go to college? Which one?
24. What career would you like to pursue when you are an adult? Why?
25. If you had a choice, where would you spend your time? Tell why.
26. What do you like best about school? What do you like least? (Be serious!)
27. If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for? (“More wishes” or
“Money” are not allowed as answers.)
28. Make up question.
29. Make up question.
30. Make up question.
Part II: The Written Biography
Now it’s time to write the biography of the classmate that you interviewed. Using
information from the interview, organize an essay that tells the story of your partner.
This story should include the highlights of their life, but it will be difficult to include
everything about them. Organize the story like this:

• Story 1 – Name and background information, e.g., place and date of birth,
family members, etc.
• Story 2 – Anecdotes about your partner. Write an interesting story about
your partner’s life from the interview, e.g., perhaps your partner races go-karts
as a hobby and told you about one of their races.

Format: Be sure that your written biography follows these formatting instructions:

1. Choose one of the themes available in Word. Fill in the title, enter a publication
name that includes your first and last name, and add text boxes and lines as
needed.
2. Title includes partner’s name in bold, underlined, and centered.
3. Include at least 2 stories about your partner as described above. Use an ordinary
font (Times, for example); usually size 12 or 14 is adequate.
4. Pay attention to white space. Fill the page with good content, but don’t cram the
page with wall-to-wall content. Put some space between stories and graphics.
5. Let your partner read and edit your biography to make sure the information is
accurate. They may also catch grammar and spelling errors.
6. Spell and grammar check final draft.
7. Insert partner’s digital image, resize if necessary, and text wrap it on first page
with a drop shadow. Add a caption to picture. This image should not exceed
2”X3” in size.
8. Save often and print final document.
Part III: The Multimedia Show
The multimedia portion of the class project includes an art and video assignment (if
time permits) and PowerPoint presentation. You will also have to use the Internet to
do some research. Here is a breakdown of what to create:

• Art Work: If time permits, we will use Photoshop to enhance our pictures.

• Video: If time permits, we will make a video to present on “Share Day.”

• PowerPoint Presentation: 10 slides needed (depending on time). All slides

must have text and pictures. Here’s how the general layout will go:

• Slide 1: Title slide. Decide on a theme and color scheme and stick with it.
• Slide 2: Table of Contents slide. Make a table of contents with links to all
other slides. Include a picture if you wish.
• Slide 3: Author & Art Gallery slide. You are the author/creator of this project.
Include your Photoshop images with backgrounds on this slide.
• Slide 4: Partner slide. Give some basic information about your partner;
include their picture on this slide.
• Slides 5-7: Research slides. Do some Internet research on a place, event,
animal, sports team, celebrity or other activity that you are interested in; this
slide should include 3 good facts about the item and include an image from
the web; make hyperlinks for websites used.
• Slide 8: “Desert Island” slide. Use words and pictures to show the 10 things
you could not live without on a desert island. Designs and animations can
make this slide look very cool! This slide should have your name or picture on
it and will be shown on Share Day.
• Slide 9: References slide. Include all web pages used in your slide show.
Slide 10: “Questions” slide.
Part IV: The Presentation
Final PowerPoint presentations and movies will be presented to the class. Students
will find a unique way to present their shows in front of the class. These final
presentations are evaluated on the following:

• Voice Volume – are you loud enough to be heard by everyone in the room?
• Voice Clarity – can we clearly understand what you are saying?
• Posture – are you standing up straight?
• Enthusiasm – are you positive and do you look like you’re having fun?
• Content – did you say something of value to the audience?
