Motivation letter
To whom it may concern,

We are AIESEC in Vietnam, it is a great honor for us to present our motivation and passion in hosting
regional conference, and in this special occasion, APXLDS 2011 especially.

Vietnam is acknowledged as an active emerging market in Asia Pacific with significant growth in foreign
investment and international trade. Our country is also an attractive destination for tourists with our 1,000
years of history , our people’s hospitality and low cost of living compared to other countries. Gradually in
a few recent years, our youth are having more and more international exposure, and AIESEC in Vietnam
is proud to take a part in making that positive change,and with our growth, we will make a bigger impact
in the youth community.

Being recognized as one of the fastest growing official expansion entities in AIESEC network,
AIESEC in Vietnam has been present for 3 years old with 215 dynamic, proactive members. We
have organized 3 National Conferences and 1 international conference (APMCTC 2009). With the
success of hosting APMCTC 2009, we have equipped ourselves great experience to host
international conferences and show our contribution to the network. Our Exchange result has
increased by more than 200% growth and our finance is currently independent from AIESEC in
Japan. Being supported greatly by high-profile partners such as Unilever, Sacombank Group, Ford
Vietnam, ACDL, etc, we have managed to build up our internal and financial capacity, and will surely
grow more to contribute to great success of Asia Pacific Exchange and Leadership Development
Seminar.

We do believe that hosting APXLDS in Vietnam will bring huge impact for AIESEC in Vietnam and for
AIESEC global in general. This is a precious chance for our members to have more interaction with other
AIESEC countries, for everybody to build their network and strenghen their passion in AIESEC. For the
first time, AIESEC in Vietnam has raised our voice, taken responsibility to show our contribution for the
whole network. We are delighted to deliver to our AIESEC friends a chance to discover and enjoy the
beauty our culture and our country. We believe that Vietnam is the best location for APXLDS 2011 .

With our motivation for bidding this conference. We would like to ask our friends consider Vietnam as the

Vietnam – The hidden charm

Vietnam is located in the Eastern part of the Indochina peninsula, bordering China to the North, Laos
and Cambodia to the West with a long land border of 4,550 km, and facing the Eastern Sea (South
China Sea) and the Pacific to the East and the South. On the map, Vietnam is an S-shaped long strip of
land, stretching from 23023' to 8027' North latitude

The climate:

Vietnam is located in the tropical and temperate zone with a highly-humid tropical monsoon climate in
Northern Vietnam with four distinguishable seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter) and a rather
moderate tropical climate in Southern Vietnam characterized by dry and rainy seasons and warm
weather all year round.
The average temperature in Vietnam varies between 210C (700F) and 270C (810F) and increases from
the North to the South. In summer, the average temperature is 250C (770F). Hanoi 230C (730F), Hue
250C (770F), Ho Chi Minh City 260C (790F).The average rainfall each year stands between 1,500 mm
and 2,000 mm.

Vung Tau city

Located in the South of Vietnam, away about 125km from Ho Chi Minh City . Its close location to Ho
Chi Minh City and its beauty and fresh air makes it a very popular destination for weekends.
Vung Tau is the tourist and commercial center of Southeastern Vietnam . The whole city area lies on a
peninsula which is separated from the mainland by a gulf river called Co May river.Sea, mountain, and
forest with man' s smart hands makes a natural and poetic landscapes bringing romantic moments for
the best relaxation.

Special events

Opening ceremony

Opening ceremony will be held in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of representative of
corporate, NGO, students and delegates. Opening ceremony can include:

 Opening speech of representative of university


 Speech of corporate sponsor
 Speech of MCP of AIESEC in Vietnam
 Vietnam cultural presentation

Developing leadership day (DLD)

DLD will be held in one university in Ho Chi Minh City. This is a space for delegates and AIESECers
of Vietnam equip themselves with the knowledge of social issues/topics and open their network.
Potential topics of workshop can be included:

 Cultural diversity
 Social responsibility
 Entrepreneurship
 Leadership and sustainability.
Global village

Global village will be held in Vung Tau, that’s an open space with a capacity of 500 people and more
than 25 booths. There will be a big stage with country booths around the area. The participants can
walk around the area or head for the stage for country performance. Global village can include:

 Opening speech
 Country presentation, country performance
 Country booths
Vietnam cultural night

Vietnam Cultural Night event is an opportunity to share Vietnamese culture and performances with
conference delegates and external participants from Vung Tau. The event will be organized in Vung
Tau. The potential content of Vietnam cultural night can be:
 Opening speech from externals
 Vietnam traditional dance

Gala dinner

Study tour

Option 1: Ho Chi Minh City tour

The largest city in Vietnam is well-known as a bustling,


dynamic and industrious centre, the economic capital and the
cultural trendsetter.

With a city tour of around 10 USD, you can have a chance to


discover key places of interest in Ho Chi Minh City such as
Ben Thanh market, Notre Dame Cathedral, The Central Post
Office, The Unification Palace, War Remnants museum, etc.,

Option 2: Cu Chi Tunnel

Cu Chi Tunnel is 70 km from the centre of Ho Chi Minh City in


the Northwest. It is miniature battle versatile of Cu Chi’s
military and people during the 30-year struggle longtime and
fierce to fight invading enemy to receive independence,
freedom for motherland. It also is the special architecture lying
deeply underground with many stratums, nooks and crannies
as complex as a cobweb, having spares for living, meeting and
fighting with total lengths over 200 km.
Cost: Around 7 USD (including transportation, ticket to
Cu Chi Tunnel and food)

Option 3: Vung Tau City Tour

Binh Chau Hot Spring


Enjoy eggs boil by yourselves in hot mineral water.Dip
yourselves in hot mineral stream and mud bath. Enjoy
Crocodiles Fishing Contest.
Cost: 12 – 35 USD ((including transportation, tour
guide, fishing rod, bait, ticket fee and mineral water)

Roll with cyclo tour

Go round the Small Mountain to see The Statue of Jesus


and Vung Tau’s beautiful beaches. Visit the Nirvana
Pagoda – The most beautiful pagoda in town. Visit The
White Palace – to see the ancient collection from Nguyen
Dynasty, Hon Cau Island....... Visit the Whale Temple: to
see the huge whale’s bone collection. Shopping at Vung
Tau Fine – Art Supermarket
Cost: 10 – 20 USD (including transportation (cyclo), tour
guide , ticket fee and mineral water)

Option 4: Mekong Delta

Popularly known as one of the ‘Rice Baskets’ of Vietnam,


the Mekong Delta is located in the South Eastern region of
Vietnam, where the Mekong River meets the sea.
A pride of the Vietnamese and the one of the most popular
of the Vietnam tourist attractions, the Mekong Delta is
exceptionally rich in scenic beauty. It is a place unique in
itself.

Visa information
Citizens of certain countries can visit Vietnam without Vietnam entry visa. Those countries include:
 Most citizens of ASEAN member countries (Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia,
Philipines ) are no need Vietnam visa for visiting Vietnam within 30 days;
 Citizens of Korea, Japan are no need Vietnam visa for visit Vietnam within 15 days.
 All other citizens are required to get Vietnam entry visa before departure (Vietnam visa issued prior
to departure by Vietnamese consulates or embassies) or a pre-approved Vietnam entry visa (visa
is issued on arrival at Vietnam’s International Airports) supplied before arrival in Vietnam.
