STUDENT WORKSHOP

Medicines in Europe: Politics, Patents & Promotion

Location: HAI Europe office, Overtoom 60/ II floor, Amsterdam

Aimed at medical and pharmacy students, this workshop will introduce topics not often covered in
the classroom, ranging from the politics behind the development and patenting of drugs, to the
manner in which drug companies promote their products to patients and healthcare professionals.

During this workshop, future healthcare providers will be presented with information necessary to
their understanding of the role of intellectual property rights in access to medicines and to help them
respond to promotion of medicines in order to make the best decisions for their patients.

Deadline to register is 31 March 2011. HAI-Europe is able to reimburse the cost of second-class
train travel (to a maximum of 20 Euro) for students who register in advance for the workshop.
HAI-Europe cannot cover the costs of accommodation.
