**Franklin County “Kick Butt Day” - Tobacco, that is! Today, March 23 - - -
Middle & High school students will go to the gym with their 7th period
teachers as soon as attendance is taken. (regular bell schedule today)
**Due to today’s faculty meeting, the FCS Nest students are to report to
the elementary pavilion for after school snacks.
**H/S FALL SPORTS BANQUET TICKETS: Now available ♦♦♦ Adults- $10 ♦♦♦ Children (6-17)-$5
Tickets may be purchased from Coach Bloom’s office, Monica Moron or Lee Mathes. No charge for players, but players
must pick up a ticket from Coach Bloom’s office. The banquet is March 31, in the cafeteria @ 6:30pm.
FYI: The H/S Spring Sports Banquet is set for May 12.
**SCIENCE PROJECT BACK BOARDS: Now on sale - $6.00. See Ms. Buffkin or Ms. Sawyer to purchase.
** PROM SIGN-UP: Sign- up sheet is in Mrs. Karen Smith’s office. Sign up by April 1st. Non-student
participation forms for dates will be on the same clipboard as the sign-up sheets. Date of Prom is April 16.
**PROM GLASSES: Juniors & Seniors, if you would like to order prom glasses for you and your date, see Mrs.
Gavigan. Seniors in attendance will receive one free glass. Each glass costs $7.00.

**FAMU’s Annual Spring Preview: Saturday, March 26, from 8:30am-2:00pm for juniors, seniors, & community
College transfers. Pre-register at www.famu.edu click on “Events”, then click on “Spring Preview”.
**GCCC Dual Enrollment-Summer & Fall: Registration for the summer & fall terms will be April 11-May 6.
The dual enrollment office will be open until 6:00pm from April 11- April 14 (after these dates, regular office hours
Resume, 8:00am-4:00pm).
**Certified Nursing Assistant Program: Students interested in program need to apply NOW!!! April 29 is the
end date. They are interviewing applications starting now! You can get in touch with Pat Wagner, GFC Nursing
Secretary @ 227-9670 EXT. 5522. The earlier you apply the better.
**SCHOLARSHIPS: Seniors, scholarships are coming in! Important Tips: 1) Encourage your parents to file their
Income Tax Return as soon as possible (Pell grant & some scholarships require a copy). 2) Prepare- Essays, letter
of Reference, resumes.

**Reading Endorsement Competencies 4/5 Classes: March 23, 30, & April 6.
Classes will be at Learning Center, room 19, from 3:00-7:00pm. Sign up on ePDC for the course. Remember,
if you are teaching intensive reading to H/S, M/S, or ESE students, you are required to have Reading Endorsement.

**Reduce Energy Use with Girl Scouts: Saturday, March 26, join the Girl Scouts across the Panhandle in
saving electricity, money & the planet! You can help by turning off your lights & electronics from 8:30-9:30pm on the 26th.
Did you know that TVs, DVDs, & computers eat up 15% of a home’s energy use even when they’re off? Unplug them!
Join in by taking the Girl Scouts Forever Green Pledge.
**FAAST (Florida Alliance for Assistive Services & Technology) Training: Saturday, March 26, at the Water
Street Hotel & Marina, Apalachicola, from 9:00am-noon. Free workshop/training for parents of children with disabilities &

**FCS Graduation Caps & Gowns Needed: Last year & again this year, we have had Seniors who have not
been able to purchase a cap & gown due to family finances. If anyone has a cap & gown which was used for graduation at
Franklin County School, please consider donating them to the school. Students, who can not purchase the items, can borrow
them at no cost except to have them cleaned & returned. We need at least five. Don’t worry, if it’s not clean, Mrs. Croom will
have them cleaned. Thus, the SENIOR SEAHAWK CLOSET will be established. Contact Dolores Hayward-Croom at 670-
2800.

**GED CLASSES on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays (except holidays) from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the
Franklin County Learning Center (the old Brown Elementary).
The next GED Test will be given May 2 & 3 at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm.
