05 Quick guide – QDESIGNER

Before you start using the software, you need to be aware of a few of the terms used:

A project is a collection (playlist) of layouts. When a project has been completed, it will be sent
Project
in its entirety to the player.

A layout is one 'slide' within your project. It is possible to add multiple layouts to the same
Layout
project.

An asset is an 'object' (e.g. text, video, image...) within a layout. The number of assets within a
Asset
layout is infinite.

The entire tree-like structure (project, layout and assets) of your project can be viewed in your ‘Project Browser’.

6 FAQ
My display shows the message ‘No Input’.

Æ Check whether the Q-BiX player is on. You can do this by checking the status of the green light on the front of the player. If the light is off, please
turn your player on.

When I try to send my project, I get the message ‘wrong password’.

Æ Contact your dealer if the default password ‘qbix’ does not work.

I have had a machine blackout and my presentation(s) is (are) no longer displayed.

Æ Turn the Q-BiX player on again using the switch on the front of the player. The presentation should re-appear after a few minutes.

When I schedule a project to start at a later point in time, my current presentation disappears.

Æ When you send a new presentation through the Schedule Editor, all current presentations have to be sent as well. It is also important to always
save your ‘Schedule’ using the ‘Save’ button in the Schedule Editor (see also Section 5.7.3 in this manual).
FAQ - SUPPORT

When I run a scan for available players, I see more players than are actually present.

Æ When a player is linked to the network, whether via a wired or a wireless connection, it appears twice in the results of the scan, with a different
IP address on each occasion.

A video will not play on my player.

Æ Normally, the most common codecs will have already been installed on the player. If, however, a video does not play, it is likely that the codec
which supports it is missing. In these circumstances, please contact your dealer.

I cannot connect to a player.

Æ Check the firewall settings of your computer. The firewall settings of your player have been set correctly. Note that it is important that port
10233 is open.
