Installation

Instructions for installing the SPSS SmartViewer, including the minimum

hardware and software requirements, are located in the SmartViewer
Installation Instructions on the CD-ROM in the Installation Documents
directory.

Information and Limitations

Reading new files in older versions. Because of changes to the format of

the SPSS document (*.spo) file, output documents created in SPSS 15.0
may not be readable by earlier versions of SPSS.

Installing SPSS SmartViewer and SPSS for Windows on the Same

Computer. It is possible to install both SPSS for Windows and SPSS
SmartViewer on the same machine, with a couple of caveats. SPSS and
SmartViewer must be at the same revision level (currently 15.0) and must be
installed in different directories. If both SPSS for Windows and SPSS
SmartViewer are installed, double clicking on an Output File will bring up
whichever application was last run.

Known Problems

Uninstalling Smart Viewer. If you have SPSS for Windows and SmartViewer
installed on the same computer, uninstalling SmartViewer may cause SPSS
for Windows to stop displaying graphics. You can correct the problem by
repairing your SPSS for Windows installation. In the Windows Add/Remove
programs, locate SPSS 15.0 for Windows, press Change, and follow the
prompts to repair the system.
