Process Description

? Collection Centre: The Substrate or Organic Raw Material is brought to the plant and received here
? Pre-Treatment Tank: The Substrate is mixed with water and homogenized into a uniform Slurry
? MUASB Digester 1 and 2: The Infeed is fed into the digesters, where it undergoes the anaerobic digestion process

Slurry Raw Gas

a) The slurry from the MUASB digester is taken to the
Organic Slurry Pit, where it is dried and gets converted
to biomanure
b) This biomanure is taken to the Vermi Compost Unit,
where via vermiculture, the biomanure gets further
enriched
c) The enriched biomanure is then taken to retail centers
for sale
a) The raw gas from the MUASB digester is piped into the
Gas Collection Tank for temporary storage
b) From here, it is fed into the Scrubber or Gas Enrichment
System, for removal of H2S and other impurities
c) Finished Biogas
Utility Gas Supply (for cooking, etc.)
Electricity Generation
Vehicle Fuel

Novel applications of Biomethanation

? A Biogas powered train has been running in Sweden from 2005.

? T-systems a German based IT company has started using biogas based fuel cells to keep its servers cool and is able to cut energy costs
considerably.

? In the suburbs of Seattle, a fuel cell, located at the South Treatment Plant in Renton, WA, consumes about 154,000 cubic feet of biogas
a day to produce up to 1 MW of electricity. That's enough to power 1,000 households, but right now it's being used instead to help
operate the plant.

? Biogas run vehicles have a range of 250-400kms. Like Volvo, worldwide many vehicles are being manufactured that run on biogas. Biogas
can share distribution facilities with CNG and is currently used as fuel in more than four million vehicles.
