• They have been involved in the preparation of the

action plan and in allocating resources for the


activities in the action plan.

• For the politicians they play a critical role first of all


in policy formulation and also in sensitizing the
community on the need for both genders to co exist .

• Stage 6-Took part in the sixteen days of gender
activism and 3rd December which is the world day
for the disabled we had an awareness match.

• Gender and GBV plan exist


• It is implemented in a coordinated manner through
the district development committee gender sub –

departments, church organisation representatives,
key non governmental organisation and private
companies

• GBV is a concern to both men and women


as can be seen from the participation of both

sexes in the preparation of the action plan.


• It is also important to mention that as a
district we participated for the first time in the
sixteen days of gender activism and the
activities we carried out included educating
both men and women on family law

• Both human resource and financial resource


are avaliable . For human resource, each

department has appointed a gender focal


person responsible implementing the
gender policies.
• For the financial resource the local authority
did allocate some finances in the budget for
the first time.

• Donations from the business houses in the


district in order to carry out some activities
during the sixteen days of gender activism
• Fundraising activities which will go along
side with Sensitization have also been lined
up.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

• The district committee meet quarterly and


gets reports from the gender focal persons

on what is happening in the various


departments .
• The officer from the police victim support unit
has also been providing the committee with
latest information on reported cases hence
making it easier to monitor the programme.

WHAT RESULTS HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED?

• political support from the policy makers who


are the councillors

• community mobilization has been easier as


the NGOS came on board. A specific result
is the construction of a ramp at the civic
centre by Rotary club

• We have seen policies to accommodate the


disabled being entertained such as the

construction of the ramp.


• we have also seen street lights being
itemised as one of the priorities .

• Active participation of the municipality because the


municipality will always be there and the people
trained are permanent employees.

• Net working therefore is achieved through formation


of committee
• The baseline and the indicators in the action plan
are also very important in making the activities
sustainable.
