Police tackle school parking
POLICE have increased patrols outside St Peter’s
Primary School, Heswall, in an attempt to stop
‘inconsiderate’ parking. Police advised parents and
motorists and enforced parking restrictions.

HESWALL police issued speeding fines after

Storeton Lane, between Barnston Road and Private
Drive, Pensby.
Store delivery hours to be extended?
TESCO has applied to Wirral Council for permission
to make deliveries from 5am to 11pm, but some
neighbours have signed a petition opposing the
move on the basis that the noise will keep them
awake. Tesco said: “We pride ourselves on being a
good neighbour, which is why this is a just a trial at
this stage.”
Village parking clampdown
Parents were given fines following a police
clampdown on parking near Thornton Hough Primary
School recently.
From the Merseyside Police website:
l Craig Wright, 28, from Dorchester Road,
Swinton, Manchester was convicted of driving while
disqualified on Telegraph Road, Heswall. Wirral
magistrates jailed him for 16 weeks and extended his
driving ban for another three years.
l A 43-year-old male from Birkenhead was arrested
and charged with an offence of theft from Tesco, in
Heswall.
l Joy Lynn, 77 years old from Private Drive,
Barnston has been convicted of drink driving on
Barnston Road. She was fined £75 and disqualified
from driving for 17 months.
l Michelle Parker, 32, from Fairlawne Close,
Liverpool, was fined £85 and given a 12 month
suspended prison sentence after being convicted of
handling stolen goods from a burglary in Heswall.

Ingredients

300ml double cream
100ml milk
2 garlic cloves, crushed to a
paste with a pinch of salt
400g potatoes, peeled and cut
into slices 2-3mm thick
400g fennel, cut into slices
2-3mm thick
1-2 tablespoons freshly grated

Celebrating 40 years of conservation

production of John Godber’s popular comedy Up ‘n’ Under at Heswall Hall.

Floral group arranges fun and
friendship with a little lotto help
Last year Heswall Flower Club
won lottery funding to run two sets
of flower arranging classes in the
community for the community.
The aim was to encourage local interest
in the art of flower arranging whilst
promoting new membership for the club
and supporting the local Heswall Hall
which was under threat of closure. The
first of two sets of classes were run
before Christmas at Heswall Hall and the
second course is currently running. As
the club had so much interest shown,
more classes are planned during the
coming months although these will not
be lottery funded.

met with a renewed enthusiasm in new

Springtime
It’s the time of year when the sun seems to
shine that bit brighter, the days become longer
and an artificial light can no longer hide the
chipped paintwork, dirty windows or cobwebs.
The phrase “Spring Clean” wasn’t coined without
good reason. Scouring blog sites and magazines and
pestering suppliers to find out what’s new I have been
greeted with same response- not much. That’s a bit of a
relief really, because there is already so much out there-
it’s now just a case of putting it a all to good use.
The Fireplace image is from the New York Chatwal
Hotel- reproduced over the last 2 months in a number
of articles and magazines- so why not here. My
favourite things are here- some eclecticism in choice
of furniture, good use of colour, wood and metal and
painted furniture working together- oh and books.
Round sidetables are definitely the best look. Jan
Cavelle Furniture for something similar. The Cadillac
Chair is available from Andrew Martin- this one has
been reupholstered in fabric which I prefer.
Boudoir Bedrooms are still popular. Simple white
bedding and a dramatic headboard make this room
interesting. It’s easy enough to cover some ply covered
with foam and attach securely to the wall- all you need
is some suitable fabric remnants and a good staple gun.
The Tall lamps and sun mirror add something a little
quirky.

Fiction: Daughters-In-Law by Joanna Trollope

This eagerly awaited new novel by a favourite
