student art at Western Nevada College.

and knew what would sell so I provided
the public with what they wanted and it
was my more artsy shots that I entered
in the juried art shows and am pleased
to say that many of those artsy shots
were appreciated by the judges.” He is
most proud of the top award presented
to him by Pulitzer Prize winner Emily
Genauer who presented him with first
prize at the Houston Art Show in 1977.
With an artistic eye most of us do not
have, Langson shoots unusual views of
our world. He has gone through differ-
ent phases of what interests him and
states currently, “I am trending more
toward portals and passages.” Sym-

embarking on a new facet of his life and
career.

for glass
Not long ago, I walked into the
little café at the Brewery Arts
Center to check out the fare and
instead of eating, I found myself
browsing the many wonderful art
pieces for sale created by local artists.
One unusually beautiful glass piece caught my eye and I just knew
I had to have it. That piece, so perfect in my living room, turned out
to be one of the fused glass creations from Jarill Ristine, creator of
one-of-a-kind art glass.
Upon first meeting Ristine in her home studio in Carson City,
I mentioned that I was the proud owner of a piece of her beautiful
glass art . Like a proud mother, she was delighted to know to whom

enough to have wonderful parents to
encourage and nourish their talent. Not all
make it to the “big time” but according to
young actress Danita Bayer (Dani), kids in
the arts have a great time growing up in our
community creating a sense of self that is
usually not found outside of the arts field.
As a budding young actress, Dani, 18,
has just about done it all. She sings, she
dances, she acts, she sews costumes, she
designs sets, she directs. She unabashedly
loves the acting world stating, “I love the
surreal world of the theater where there is a
bright light on the stage and the black area
filled with an audience that I know is there
but I cannot see.”
