from top of the stool placed. 3rd shell course from top shall be placed by crane and
shall be held in position by temporary cleats. Vertical joints shall be aligned and fitted
with the progress of shell plate erection. Welding of vertical joints shall be done.
Jacks shall be lowered to match the horizontal joint between the two shell courses.
Horizontal joints shall be aligned, fitted and welded. After radiography clearance, the
tank shall be lifted by jacks and erection of the next course shall be done. This
procedure shall be carried out till the lower most shell is done. During lower most
shell erection the erection tools, which were fixed with the bottom plates shall be
removed and tank shall be lifted to a height to suit the height the bottom shell course.

3.21 Two make-up shell (3 Mtr x 2.5 or 2.0 Mtr) at 180 deg apart shall be kept open for the
erection of inner shell. Sufficient stiffeners shall be provided to keep these opening
till the inner tank is completed.
